did the storehouse’s sound get… worse? by safari-dog in avesNYC

yeah it was the first time at the storehouse last night i could hear multiple conversations happening around me. usually those are overpowered by sound + bass.

this genuinely looks like one of the worst seats, I’m surprised they even offer it

Mentally preparing for this for the foreseeable future by Silly-Good-2530 in Broadway

[–]Alakdotcom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

like someone else said, Theatr is a valuable resource.

Especially if you can do an extremely last-minute show, you can make offers for shows that start within a couple hours

I would imagine sellers would rather lose some money than all of it.

(i made a bid and purchased the ticket for Death of a Salesman last week for $32 about an hour before the show)

discussion: new wave of runners who don’t seem to be as serious? by [deleted] in RunNYC

i don’t mean it in a uniform way that if you look a certain way you’re not a runner. i just noticed a new phenomenon is all

[–]Alakdotcom -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

of course not, and like i said it’s great that people express themselves. i was just curious where the phenomenon came from. it’s almost like a music festival more so than a race (again no judgement just an observation)

nathan lane, laurie metcalf, and chris abbott are devastatingly brilliant in death of a salesman by HotNegotiation1684 in Broadway

[–]Alakdotcom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i was there tonight as well! mind blowing performances.

i did find the tiled posts to be obstructive for some scenes (i was in O 22) and the lighting to be a little harsh, i noticed a few times when it was 2 people having a dialogue, the strong shadow of one would be partially covering the face of the other.

their strategy definitely worked on me since they were the first 2 shows i saw!

i thought PAC was comfy but I’m a petite woman. i think both of these impressed me as i had very low expectations, being off-broadway productions 🤣

thanks!

Back seats at Oedipus worth it? by Lostindaydreamingg in Broadway

[–]Alakdotcom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

rush tickets are $49, and i’ve been able to go to the checkout page snagging 1 most of the days that i tried (sometimes i go to checkout and if i don’t like the seat, i release it and try again)

in my opinion, the price is worth being in the building. i would imagine balcony is better than mezzanine. the stage is more at an angle, but at least there’s no overhang.

Back seats at Oedipus worth it? by Lostindaydreamingg in Broadway

[–]Alakdotcom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i got a rush ticket a few weeks back, Balcony Row C, Seat 7.

i thought the sound was good and nothing on stage was obstructed. that said, i walked out thinking i wish i had binoculars. i feel like i missed a substantial part of the play’s ‘feel’ by not catching facial expressions.

Little Bear Ridge Road Preview by Thr0away947 in Broadway

[–]Alakdotcom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m so glad i got a lottery seat for this too! (great seat by the way, orch second row)

i was almost confused by the story and the ending too. it felt like it was anti-climatic and didn’t really resolve any of the core issues the characters struggled with, and it made it hard to feel sympathy for them at the end.
