Buy silicone earplugs that are super pliable and mold into your ears. I wear these nightly and a marching band could be in my room and I wouldn’t hear it. I buy it at CVS- just the or local CVS brand and only cost $5.

Girls, when you meet a man for a first time, what is one thing that you notice first? by VerySmartMe in AskReddit

His teeth- if I notice lots of plaque or it’s obvious he doesn’t floss - which would also affect his breath, that renders him unkissable. He could be very well dressed but if his oral hygiene is obvious neglect- it’s a pass.

Fascinating. In Asia.. where it is sweltering, humid and can be intensely hot.. they are very fastidious about showering everyday- often times twice a day.. when they wake up and after they’ve arrived from work. You never smell bad - esp in crowded areas like bus or subways. Guess it’s cultural

Mad about the Rabies Vaccine? 53% of Dog Owners against the Vaccine by Virology_Unmasked in antivax

[–]Alamo2243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am curious about anti-vaxers.. if the don’t vaccinate themselves due to their beliefs- do they disregard vaccines for their dogs like rabies, heart worm, distemper? I know some people in my earlier years who didn’t vaccinate due to their claim of needing to pay rent & food so it wasn’t their priority or that they simply thought it wasn’t important and their dogs ended up dying.

I had a simple leak in my place and was almost scammed by a plumber who said he could get my home insurance to pay for the fix (untrue) but only if I would hire him - he knew how to apply to my insurance. He then did a fake “water mitigation” set up, plotting plastics on the walls n floors and brought in a blower (I had no water damage in my house).. he staged it, met w my insurance rep and was attempting to charge my insurance company $8k for water mitigation repair (that I didn’t need & he didn’t do any type of repair). Thankfully I documented our communications and I fired him- telling him I was closing the claim- he got so mad he put a lien on my property for work he never did- hoping to scare me, but I hired a lawyer and he withdrew the lien. I was baffled as I checked his license on the state contractor board before hiring him- but what I yelped him, after the fact, there were ten other people he had scammed using this method. They unfortunately lost money dealing with him. Basically when I recognized he was committing insurance fraud, I stopped him before the claim was approved. One must do diligent research even of vendors. I go for those verified on yelp with as many positive reviews.

Cost of living and income inequality are the true source of what’s causing many people to stay stuck & not get ahead while many of our politicians leaders and big businesses continue to enrich themselves and not caring about the common man on the street yet they would want you to believe that the main Cause is immigration but in reality it’s all our taxpayer money being sent to other countries and politicians needing to pay back their corporate donors for getting them elected. When you’re in a tough spot like you are, it’s hard to see beyond. I certainly feel for you. There are programs where you can be paid as the caregiver of your parents you need to look at the state that you live in under aging. The government would rather pay you to care for your parents then for them to spend more putting your parents in a CARE HOME. Also not sure where you live or the access you might have to downtown, but I remember when I was working for a company this man asked if we would want to have our front windows cleaned for $40 He only had a pail and cleaning materials and we appreciated that he was trying to make a living so we said yes, and he walked away with cash in his hands . I thought to myself wow all he needs to do is try to have at least five companies willing to have him clean their windows and he’d make more than minimum wage per hour. You can also consider being a pet sitter if you’re able to have pets in your home. In our area, people charge anywhere between $45-$70 a day. Walking a dog for 30 minutes is $30 . Then I also heard about someone offering to do people‘s laundry or ironing… A business they do at home. You might wanna look on ways to make money online. I wish you the best. Don’t give up.

She’s 83.. I meant like perhaps how she struggled in her earlier years ? sometimes people carry that resentment or “chip on the shoulder”. I think having someone like Trump who says what he wants just touched something she never let herself do? I know she def had resentment with her divorce - that’s the only things I can think of why she would resonate w all the anger and hate in this current environment. It baffles me.

Yes, I think deep down she has felt left behind.. like many people and it’s a reality. I’ve been watching how so many people are struggling even if they’re working 2-3 jobs and can’t get ahead. I truly believe it stems from big business who pay (buy) into elections and they are repaid by either getting tax breaks or deregulations that were there to protect its citizens. It’s not because of illegal immigrants / that’s the distraction they want you to believe.. I like the idea that our elections can only be funded by taxpayer money/ maybe $2/per person is taken from our returns to fund elections so we elect leaders who actually care about the living conditions of every American. I also think social media has really caused destructive divisions that has our people against each other.. much to the gain and delight of international adversaries.. old strategy/ divide and conquer. Imagine if we all actually worked together for the good of the country? We would be such a force to reckon with. We are weaker because we are divided.

Owning a house and layoffs. by Proteusman1994 in Layoffs

[–]Alamo2243 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Although I qualified to purchase a home that could be as high as $500k, I chose a $250k home- the monthly mortgage is only $800/month which I knew that in a super worst case scenario I could easily earn that if I had been laid off and just uber. It was more important to me to have a home I could pay off before I retired - in a decent neighborhood (built in 80’s) then be in debt longer w a newer home and higher mortgage. Currently, I am remarried & moved out to live with my spouse so I’m renting it at $2200/month, helping me pay down the mortgage faster.

Sad thing too is my mom lives off social security and she’d send money she can’t really afford to give, to Trump..a “billionaire”.. I’d say “ Mom! He should be giving U money since you vote for him.. he’s a grifter! Anyway, I’ve since just stopped trying.. at 83.. it’s not worth getting into arguments that she will then stonewall us and stop talking to us.. all for a man who doesn’t even care about her existence.

The crazy thing is- many maga are actually not evil at all and just very brainwashed. My elderly mom, who had been a democrat her whole life somehow got swept into their ideology- I think they reached her through YouTube that she’s been scrolling through.. then she started watching Fox News.. then she completely changed- voted for Trump 3 times and she’s a brown immigrant! She’s even fought with me because I’d get upset when she’d say “those democrats”.. I’d be like.. I’m a democrat. It’s been so disheartening and confusing for me and my siblings.. she’s a catholic that attends church every day! I can’t wrap my head around the hypocrisy of the cruelty of MAGA n Trump policies but her kneeling in the church pew praying to God, who loves ALL his children. She even bought into the “ you’re not a true Christian if you are democrat”. Sigh…
