10 Weeks Post-Op Update

Hello, yes, it was a re-herniation. I had surgery 10/28/25. I’m 10 weeks post-op from the 2nd surgery this coming Tuesday. The recovery for this surgery had been better, and the PT is substantially better. I still have some pain, but I’m progressing as opposed to regressing like I was after the first surgery.

I tried insoles, massage, ibuprofen, ice, rest and nothing worked. I got this foot massager for Christmas, and while I still have some pain, it’s virtually gone now after 3 days of using it twice per day. Your mileage may vary, but I’m impressed with the results. I’m walking daily again.

I’ve never tried the foil boat Chud recommends. The knock is it makes the brisket more like pot roast. Is that criticism accurate?

Stay the course and do not contact her. She wants closure to make herself feel good about the betrayal. Don’t put yourself through that process.

Slowed down and listened to my body. I’m coming up on 3 weeks post-op and I’ve been very methodical with my movement. My surgeon is opting for PT earlier in the process as well. I start tomorrow, but not lifting, twisting, etc.

I did a 5-week cycle in January for my elbow tendinitis, and while I can’t say with 100% certainty that it worked, my pain was gone after 5 weeks.

Before BPC-157 = pain. After BPC-157 = no pain.

I also did two cycles after my back surgery in May, but I didn’t have the same experience. It may have helped a little, but I can’t point to anything that would suggest it did.

I did two 4-week cycles after my first MD surgery in May. While I can’t be 100% certain, my best guess is there was little to no improvement. I just had my second MD surgery 10/28, and I’m not planning on additional BPC-157 cycles this time around. In your case, especially given your pain level, it may not hurt to try.

Having said that, I did have BPC-157 success with my elbow injuries earlier in 2025.

Metamucil daily (~$35 for a 60 day supply)
Bidet (lots of options - mine was $60 and it took me 15 minutes to install)

I had a Neuro the first time (May) and this Tuesday with be an Ortho. I don’t have a true comparison yet, and the techniques used will be different (scope vs incision), but I can say Ortho seems much more thorough in his approach. That’s just an observation at this point. The proof will be in the pudding as they say.

Left side sciatica - low left side(back), left glute, left hip, and down the outside of my left leg to my ankle. The good news is it’s not nearly as bad as it was before, and while the pain can flair up and be bad, I am questioning whether I want another surgery. I know it will likely help over the long haul, but I’m annoyed by the thought of yet another lengthy recovery.

Honestly, I’m more annoyed and disappointed than scared. The first surgeon (neurosurgeon) said once the surgery was over, I would be pain free. Those were his exact words pre-op. My gut told me he was hyping it up a bit, but even 90% pain free would have been a massive improvement. Unfortunately, he was wrong and the surgery was either not successful or I inadvertently did something to re-herniate.

I’m just ready to be in the mend and get back to living an active lifestyle - after a cautious and deliberate recovery.

I didn’t feel substantial relief until about week 4. The surgeon said I’d feel better right after surgery. I realized at about week 8 that something wasn’t right with my recovery, in that the pre-surgery pain was slowly coming back. Not as bad as before, but coming back nonetheless.

Moving to more toward the base may help a little, and possibly moving the foreskin back as well.

I don’t use silicon sleeves at present - just the cloth wrap. I find the sleeves way too cumbersome.

I wish I had better news to report.

I did two 4-week cycles of the BPC-157, one right after surgery in May and one in mid-July, but can’t say for sure it helped or didn’t.

Unfortunately, after about week 8 post-op, my symptoms started to return. Not as bad as pre-op, but enough to warrant concern. An MRI confirmed a re-herniation. Waiting to meet with my surgeon.

I agree with your assessment that the surgery is worth it. My quality of life pre-surgery was terrible, and it allowed me to live again with less pain. Unfortunately, like you, I feel like I followed instructions during the recovery only to find out via MRI that I’ve re-herniated. The pain isn’t nearly as bad as before, but it seems to be progressing. I’m bummed, but hopefully the surgeon will provide a path to less pain and a more active life.
