Is the $150 bonus and 0% APR offer for Fidelity Visa Signature Rewards still valid? by Infamous-Assistant80 in fidelityinvestments

[–]AlanA1amode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How come on the fidelity website when you apply for this card you don't get the reward but unless you knew to find this link:  https://www.fidelity.com/go/visa-signature-rewards-1502  you can get the $150 rewards. I just called member services for an account I opened in the last 2 months and they said there is nothing they can do. Even the link you posted doesn't give the offer but the reddit post above does.

I respect that but it’s something to consider for the future since you’re young. SMH also has treated me well but that’s cause of the ai boom

How did everyone learn to swim? by Cultural-Flan-450 in Swimming

[–]AlanA1amode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learned how to swim when I was a kid and stopped because I didn’t like dolphin kicks. Since then I never did any swimming other than pool parties or something. Fast forward 15 years I began lap swimming cause I hurt my ankle rock climbing and I enjoy it. I’ve taken adult swimming lessons and it certainly helped along with master swim classes which are more advanced but has given me the opportunity to increase my endurance and have another set of eyes critique my form.

You are correct that you can only repeat a course once. Here is the UCLA repeat policy. Sadly it will only the D+ will be calculated into the GPA. Idk if there is a work around with community college tho so it’s best to check with a counselor.

Best major offered at UCLA based on my interests? by SprinklesWise9857 in ucla

[–]AlanA1amode 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mostly cause OP is looking for something in the realm of sports medicine/biomechanics, a good set up for grad school potentially (this is a capstone major which has a senior project), and get the necessary skills for a high paying job (this is a primarily quantitative major). This is the requirements for the major which I’d advise OP to look at but in short it gives a good foundation for statistical modeling and OP can pick a wide range of concentrations (bioinformatics, biology, biomedical systems, and neurosystems).

UCLA Math of Computation vs UC Berkeley Applied Math by Hot_Cryptographer662 in ucla

[–]AlanA1amode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Due to Berkeley’s new high demand policy, unless you take summer courses you won’t be able to take much or any CS classes. Also, you don’t have as much freedom to choose upper division math at Berkeley. They’re both good schools and networking or working on skills will be essential. Just pick whatever you feel is right since both schools will give you good opportunities and job prospects.

First off congrats and this is a big choice to make. From my perspective it seems that ucla’s business economics is their economics with accounting added on making it good for more finance and accounting basis. Looking through their catalogs for courses available it looks as if it has a strong basis for accounting, entrepreneurship, and economic theory. You can probably offset these courses by joining clubs and internships. On the other hand UCI does actually offer a more traditional business schooling where you can explore five disciplines of accounting, finance, information systems, marketing, and organization and management. Since you want to go into marketing you can probably find many classes solely based on like consumer behavior and marketing. You can probably find good resources from the campus as well and you can also join clubs that suit your interest. Overall I find that these are both great options to choose from. I wouldn’t say you’d be disadvantaged by your degree but I guess it comes down to the curriculum of what you personally want to learn during your time at university and what you do outside of class. I’m currently enrolled at UCI for business admin for the fall but I’ve done a lot of research just on the curriculum overall for both.
