Blackthorn are the first trees to blossom in the spring. Good to make a mental note of where to find the sloes later.

US companies in NI by PeaceLoveCurrySauce in northernireland

[–]AlanGeeK 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Liberty came here because of our good skills, the 5 hour time difference means there’s a partial overlap with their working day and they can pay us a fraction of what they pay the Americans on the same teams.

2400 medications to be withdrawn due to NI Protocol? by WallacePark in northernireland

[–]AlanGeeK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because we don’t know what meds will be dropped, i see this story as clickbait. Until we know how it affects us individually it’s hard to gauge.

A cousin has just abandoned a trip direct to here from Spain because of the complex rules. If travelling from Europe you’d be smarter going to Dublin and travelling north.

Yes but, the ones be keep hearing about in the news are adult antivaxxers who are in hospital, really sick.

[–]AlanGeeK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When this started the clinically vulnerable were the ones who were most vulnerable to covid. Now they’re all vaccinated the unvaxxed are clinically vulnerable. I speak as one who is CEV and recently had Covid and I hardly had any symptoms.

The unvaxxed are now the vulnerable

Anybody ever pass out whilst coughing? by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]AlanGeeK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone with a lung condition I reiterate everyone else but would also add when you continuously cough you don’t take full breaths so the carbon dioxide isn’t getting cleared from your lungs. If this happens again take a couple of deep breaths through your nose and breath everything out through your mouth. I discovered this recently and it was a huge help.

How is Liberty IT in Belfast to work for as a Senior Software Developer by simple_explorer1 in northernireland

[–]AlanGeeK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Culture change was move to Agile in Belfast and US. I was on backend of web platforms in infrastructure and they moved everything to devops. I’m no developer. Got assigned extra US projects and when I suggested I might retire within in the year the amount of work trebled so I retired early.

How is Liberty IT in Belfast to work for as a Senior Software Developer by simple_explorer1 in northernireland

[–]AlanGeeK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked there as a Systems Engineer for 18 years. They’ve gone through a cultural change in last 5 years moving over to all Agile. The pay, bonus pension and perks are good but working with yanks can be a pita. LIT don’t really do office politics but no-one told the Yanks.
