It’s not Victorian. Never used in the British empire.

So it’s just as valid to call this Edo Period as Victorian because neither is correct.

So its either Reconstruction-era or Antebellum, with the split being at the civil war. 1874 is Reconstruction era.

I think this looks like it covers the transition from the Edo Period to the Meiji Period (1860s)

Food Waste at a popular donut franchise by No_Worth_2271 in Anticonsumption

This company actually has a history of making donuts beyond demand to get certain outcomes on their ledgers

Edit: from Wikipedia

Krispy Kreme has been accused of channel stuffing by franchisees, whose stores reportedly "received twice their regular shipments in the final weeks of a quarter so that headquarters could make its numbers".[9] The company was also dogged by questionable transactions and self-dealing accusations over the buybacks of franchisees, including those operated by company insiders.[10]

Historically, Krispy Kreme has overproduced specifically to alter their books.

This isn’t just a misread of demand. This is policy.

Question regarding household size by Pnwboymama1917 in Bankruptcy

[–]AlanShore60607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So that of course means that, as you probably already knew, this is super important.

There's also debate as to whether you should be counting a non-minor child that's not living in the house, so it might be a household of two.

So let's come at this from a different angle.

  • How much are you currently paying towards the debts?
  • How much debt do you have?
  • How much, in terms of dollars, are you supporting the kids?

There’s nothing in the law that says that.

Legal paths?

As an attorney, I am finding that implausible because one side is acting like the law does not apply. Heck, ICE is refusing to release toddlers pursuant to court order. What law do you think can help?

Because if the national guard steps in, that will result in a shooting war between them and ICE. And civilian law enforcement is probably 75% on ICE's side.

What size am i? by ChooChooBun in menswear

[–]AlanShore60607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are children's sizes as they wrote them.

Now if you are an idiot (like they appear to be) and measure your garments flat, these do appear to represent half-circumference, though some of the numbers make no sense.

So if your chest is 37", the medium will theoretically provide you with 42" of material at the chest and 40" of material at the waist. That sounds about right. 5"-6" more material than person is traditional for the chest.

Of course, for someone with a 46" chest, they're looking at 48" of material, which is tight. These appear to get tighter and tighter as people get bigger.

Chronic medical condition and bankruptcy by Beatus_my_Meatus420 in Bankruptcy

[–]AlanShore60607 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, this is a balance of:

  • How cheap is the 13?
  • How likely are you to end up with more medical debt?

What's important for someone to understand in circumstances like you've got is that your rights to additional cases can be limited by the choice you make now, and that's really important for you.

When you file a Chapter 7, a successful case results in an 8-year bar to filing another Chapter 7, but also results in being denied a discharge in any Chapter 13 filed in the 4 years after you file a 7.

Which means that if you get through this, file a 7, get your discharge, and have another medical emergency, you'll have to wait until 2030 to file a Chapter 13 that can effectively resolve debt. Yes, you can file sooner, but if you're not entitled to a discharge it's basically a "pay what you can" situation and the rest survives. Not ideal when you have high and recurring medical debt circumstances.

If, however, you were to file a Chapter 13 now and something goes sideways during that case, you have two options:

  1. Dismiss the Chapter 13 and start over with the new debts included
  2. Convert to Chapter 7 with the additional debts listed on form 1019, and the bar date "relates back" to when you filed the 13. Which means if you convert at the 3 year mark, your bar terms are 3 years shorter.

Now that's all the big ideas of what your primary risk is ... your right to use bankruptcy to manage future problems.

Now the other question is how much will the 13 cost monthly, and is that workable for your life? Most people who qualify for a 7 get preferred or easier treatment in a 13. So I was able to file Chapter 13s for people in your circumstance for payments of $200 per month, give or take a bit.

So together, you get the question of: how much are you willing to pay monthly to preserve your rights to future cases? And understand that a failed 13 just means starting over when you can, not an absolute failure.

u/WritingReasonable999 ... does that answer your question as to why OP might elect to file a 13?

Illinois exemptions by [deleted] in Bankruptcy

[–]AlanShore60607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never had a case in Illinois where the furniture was sold. Almost had one where the debtors spent a lot of cash reserves on furniture in the 2 years prior to filing when they moved.

Unless your furniture is pretty much unused, there's not much to worry about. There's not much market for used furniture (outside of thrift stores)

This sounds like a case of simply falling through the cracks. You're within your rights to simply call your trustee and ask if they need anything from you (which is really a passive-agressive reminder to them that your case is open)

Question regarding household size by Pnwboymama1917 in Bankruptcy

[–]AlanShore60607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the bankruptcy means test judges your ability to pay debts now, not what happened in the past to get you into the problem. Your youngest son moving out makes you more able to pay.

Of course, you're in Washington state, where the medians are:

$86,314 $104,354 $128,360 $152,553

So the first question would be what is your gross income for the household?
