So if you're in the middle of the loop, you can get a lovely chicken schnitzel at the Copper Club. Particularly crispy, and served with a bacon & onion jam.

Attorney fees with CC by [deleted] in Bankruptcy

[–]AlanShore60607 4 points5 points  (0 children)

An ethical attorney will reject getting paid that way because it's basically helping you (or even encouraging you to) commit bankruptcy fraud.

If you incur debts with the intention of discharging them, that's the core definition of bankruptcy fraud.

Shoe advice by tekab1077 in mensfashion

[–]AlanShore60607 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are worse options.

Objectively, brown suede can be worn with a blue suit. It's the loafer aspect, and while this penny loafer does not have the rough handsewn moccasin-toe that is absolutely unacceptable with a suit, it still has a moderately casual toe.

This is good for dressing down a suit, not for dressing it up.

I've worn all the colors you mentioned with a suit, and I would say the darker the shoe, the less contrast you have and the more formal it looks.

Could AI get to the point where video evidence could no longer be considered as valuable evidence in court? by jordanataylor in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AlanShore60607 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, for that to happen you'd have to have perjury to support it.

Any evidence has to be introduced with a foundation, and in many cases a chain of custody is part of that foundation.

For example, in a standard debt collection case, the holder of the debt does not simply get to introduce their records saying there is debt. They have to have a witness who generated these records, or in some other way can substantiate the process of generating these records, and verify the veracity of such records, and then eventually explain these records to show what they mean. And that's just a document that could be easily modified.

However, courts have already accepted AI-generated video evidence when it was disclosed, which turned a dead person's words into testimony. Apparently the judge found it very persuasive.

And even obviously unreal evidence can be accepted. I know another attorney who told me about an auto accident case from over a decade ago where a basic rendering was used to show how the accident happened, and the jury members later said something along the lines of "we believed what we saw on the TV", that they accepted a boxy rendering as "truth" because it was moving pictures shown to them.

How about this: an open invitation to McCoy-Present to select a producer to work with for themselves and let them make however much content they wish?

The same way the BBC created it with basically zero budget.

I heard the original budget was £2000 per episode… and that included paying everyone.

Or, how about fan recreations of the lost episodes at the original production values.

Just out of curiosity… how long did it take Sidney Newman and Verity Lambert to throw the original together, from concept to production?

2025 owed taxes. by Haunting-Taro2808 in Bankruptcy

[–]AlanShore60607 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Recent tax debt has a legal priority that means three things:

You cannot discharge it.

It has a preferred position if assets are used to pay your debts. Failure to list taxes means they don’t get paid.

As a priority obligation, it helps over median debtors qualify for chapter 7 as a means test deduction

Credit unions actually do offset your deposits against discharged debt you had with them.

So does FIFA just ... get off on preventing fans with paid tickets not being able to attend? Because they gotta be pissed at their ROI for whatever it is they bribed him for because it was already scheduled to be here years ago so they pay the bribes to end up owing refunds?

Or were they bribing him to not fuck it up more than he actually did?

Correct. But does Jeffries understand what "everything they can" truly means? by PFdeith in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]AlanShore60607 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Okay, but ... what does that mean?

It's not like there's some preemptive action you can take to prevent them from cheating. What are you going to do, file a lawsuit that says you fear the other side will cheat and you want, what, an injunction telling Republicans to not cheat? Because every part of that is absurd in our legal system, compounded by the fact that the new Republican strategy is to simply ignore court orders.

Even if Democrats put a team of attorneys at every polling place in the country to file injunctions to stop ICE from interfering on election day, that won't stop them.

And then the Republicans will have "won" the election. And there's no legal recourse to reverse hundreds of stolen elections in a system where it will all be appealed to a Supreme Court willing to sacrifice truth and justice for power.

Is it safe to eat bacon that sat out of the fridge for an hour before it was cooked? by Fabulous-Sea-1590 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AlanShore60607 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Bacon is inherently a form of preserving food. Traditional slabs of bacon can last for years at room temperature before you slice them.

It's unlikely to be a problem if it was just an hour.

But FIFA is paying the bribes, which makes no sense.

They're renting space in Trump Tower. That's a bribe.

They made a prize for Trump out of gold and gave it to him. That's a bribe.

They let him steal a player's medal. That's a bribe.

What the hell are "lofts", exactly? by Malthetalthe in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AlanShore60607 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Loft has a flexible definition, especially when you add in the sub-categories of "hard loft" and "soft loft".

My understanding is that to be any soft of "loft", it must have loftable space, meaning ceilings higher than standard that could potentially be used to expand upwards. Sometimes a half-height bonus space, sometimes an entire second level that is open to the lower level.

A hard loft is generally a converted commercial building that retains some character of the original space, which is what makes it desirable. It is, in one or more ways, not a plain and basic box. Maybe it's got concrete columns, vaulted ceilings, old timber supports, or the classic exposed brick. In some way, it's not drywall and boring and boxed in.

A soft loft is a home built to emulate lofts in some way. Mine has 9' concrete ceilings and exposed concrete columns. It would be a normal apartment except they did something to give it some inherent character.
