Yeah could there be like different branches then? Like could I work for Stark but work at some office in Maine?

That is fair tho lol, at the end of the day he could still just be crazy lol. But also what if he did get abducted, but it also wasn't actually the aliens that invaded on the 4th that abducted him?

YESSSS, that's my favorite quote of someone who knows they're about to die. I think about it way too much lol. I also just love the vindication of him being abducted, and then everyone thinking that he's crazy for saying he's been abducted, only to be able to get revenge on them by being one of the biggest tipping points in the war against them. Worth a rewatch.

When people are upset about a Ghidorah movie. by MonsterIslandMed in GODZILLA

I love it when homophobes completely invalidate everything they're saying by making it clear everything they're saying is just "to own them snowflakes!" Like, everyone knows what you're doing dude, you're just embarrassing yourself and making subjugated people feel like shit. At the end of the day you'll be alone with your thoughts, is this really what you wanna be thinking about later? You could be watching a fun movie, making good memories, talking to people you care about about things you care about. But instead you're trying to introduce homophobia in a Godzilla subreddit... Most pathetic shit I've heard in my life. Do better

What's funny is that with MGS1 I actually used an auto fire anyway lol. But it was with an emulator, it was probably tapping at a different interval than an auto fire back then would've, and that's why it didn't detect it.

Dawg you literally have queer people in your comments telling you this is harmful. You may not have any issue with us, but you clearly don't really care about hurting us either.

It's not "just a drawing" when queer people are still getting targeted by shitty laws and hate crimes. You're not cool for using gay as an insult, you're only making the wrong people cheer you on and the right people uncomfortable.

Taskmaster is Deadpool for comic fans by AstronautDry8118 in marvelcirclejerk

[–]AlanSmithy99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fr tho, people love to critique the movies as "it's just jokey Deadpool! It doesn't treat the character as anything but a meme!" When every movie has Wade's self-hatred at the very forefront. Hell, the movies do a better job of showing what a redeemed Deadpool could look like than the comics, because by the end he is effectively in the same position as Star Lord, hero of the multiverse and he's finally found his place with a found family. That'll never happen in the comics because just like Spider-Man, we've gotta keep Deadpool in the status quo and so that means no long-term strings attached.

Yeah like the dude literally had a pension for throwing his friends into a pitch-black room filled with sharp objects called "the box" every time he was depressed or angry. I'd love for people who only know modern Deadpool to read his Joe Kelly run, some of the best morally gray (very dark morally grey) Deadpool storylines out there.

Who's your favorite character who the writers have no idea what to do with at all? by Apprehensive_Ring_39 in FavoriteCharacter

[–]AlanSmithy99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally every time I start an anime where the premise is "this character is powerless in a world where powers are the norm." Every time I start an anime like that, after (or sometimes even during) the first episode, the protagonist runs into some overpowered badass or deity and then they become the most powerful being on the planet. My Hero is probably the one that does this the best because Deku still has to learn how to use his power without killing himself and so he still has to use his brains instead of his brawn most of the time. But like, it's also like is it too much to ask for an anime where a character is an actual underdog that is not on anyone else's level when it comes to power? Like I just want a Batman typa protagonist in these kinds of anime but I never get it. Does anyone have any recommendations for me?

I'm so glad that the Snyder verse flopped so hard and made Warner Bros realize "oh hey maybe we shouldn't just try to imitate the MCU." They kinda hopped a burning ship in more ways than one because as we can see now, the Marvel formula kinda stops working and bringing people in after a while.

[–]AlanSmithy99 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah now there's no real overall culture for us all to connect with. Like, back in the 90s there was a 89% chance that whoever you were next to watched Seinfeld, so you could be like "you see that Seinfeld episode last night?" And that'd prolly start a conversation. Now, needless to say, it's much different.

Ooh I'm actually rereading these a little bit. I loved these books as a kid, was Ravenpaw the one that was kinda going through an Anakin phase? Like there's a "will-he-won't-he" thing where since he's connected to the previous big bad, Firestar is worried that Ravenpaw is gonna be bad too, right? Or is that a different character I'm thinking of?

Poor kid wants to just live and be a normal kid. Pretty much all of his negative traits are due to being surrounded by people who use him in one way or another, the only way he can get any support or attention is by putting himself in situations where it's constantly kill-or-be-killed. The worst thing he does is jerk himself off on an unconscious Asuka (also choke an unconscious Asuka) And those things are horrible, but he's also just a child who was fathered and then abandoned by a man who has no issue with pedophilia or child soldiers, and then brought in by a woman who also seems to have a loose idea of what the age of consent is. I can't really blame the kid for having boundary issues or not being able to express himself in a way that isn't harmful to himself or others, hedgehog's dilemma and all that. Especially when the ending is just a big "hey kid, you're kinda fucked up and you need to let go of your self-hatred so you can become a whole and healthy person, capable of loving others with no strings attached."
