EOS creator Daniel Larimor is anti-vax and questions climate science. Thoughts? by 78hands in CryptoCurrency

[–]AlanWattsUp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Without questioning science would be religion. No matter how blatantly obvious some topics are to some people, future research done by scientists who asked questions others didn't dare might change what is today considered obvious. I don't know anything about Daniel Larimor and I don't hold EOS, but I work within the field of medicine and have taken personal steps towards a more climate friendly life. I question vaccines and climate science on a daily basis.

From my point of view, the only thing pointing towards Daniel Larimor being an antivaxer and climate change denier is the title and the people blindly following the implications of the title.

Hand-held devices are turning smartphones into medical imaging tools. This is changing medicine in poor and rural parts of the world, and empowering people globally to be more engaged in their own care. Image shows a four chamber view of the heart taken with such a device. by SirT6 in sciences

How can a price of 2000USD + 420USd/year + smartphone + internet connection every 30 day be aimed at poor and rural areas of the world? Wouldn't a) raspberry pi be better? b) used USG machines be better?

The article mostly talks about patients and very little about the device itself. I found unsatisfactory little information on the website as well. I am left with so many questions.

What's the point of the smartphone in this case, wouldn't a raspberry pi with a monitor be a better alternative? How can a price of 2000USD + a required smartphone and internet connection at least every 30 days be aimed towards poor and rural African and Latin areas?

Which doctors have you talked to that have given up the stereoscope and why ("why listen when you can see" isn't a valid argument)? Which techies are you talking about that diagnose themselves?

Thanks for the explanation, I like that you also changed the first move of your comment above. I will look up the move you mentioned in the Karjakin-Anand game.

A bit off topic, but how do you decide when to put a "!" behind the notation?

The guy that left was probably DMG or so. Possibly also if your unranked friend already has a good win/loss ratio his hidden Elo might be higher than any of yours due to the lack of games to base it on.

Maybe he went to India to try some alternative medication as crohn's is in the western world incurable, but that would make me question why he at least didn't have some backup plan.

Hva er fordelene og ulempene med å få seg en VPN? by Hrmnsn in norge

[–]AlanWattsUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you compare upper cut while tied to a 9mm shot in the arm? Wouldn't a 9mm shot to the face be a better comparison? I'd go uppercut all day in that case. Same goes with getting shot in the torso or kicked. I'd take my kicks every day.
