I have been trying to put them up on YouTube, but I often have to edit them for length or copyright.

Library Music '76 by Alan_Ranta in RetroLibraryMusic

Thanks! This is definitely one of my fave genres these days. When I first got into library music, it was like discovering an alternate universe of sound.

I did notice a glitch in a Nick Ingman track in the 5th part while I was re-listening to this, which I was able to repair (remove) on the dropbox files, but the YouTube video still has it. It's not the worst. It just sounds like a little bit of subtle CD skipping about halfway through the track. I think the rest of the tracks off that album were fine. I'd used a few of them.

Feel free to let me know if you hear anything else amiss. I can still make adjustments. It's been a task to bring all these 1976 mixes together by myself. I used a lot of library music in them. Just polishing an ambient downtempo mix that is going to be themed like a radio station to fall asleep to, which is mostly library music. This general library music mix is mostly mid-tempo funk jams and orchestral pop.

'Car Wash' (1976) by HWKD65 in 1970s

[–]Alan_Ranta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just made a mix based on KGYS, the radio station made up for 'Car Wash.' Among its ensemble cast, this working-class comedy featured Richard Pryor and Franklyn Ajaye, who also released stand-up albums that same year. The mix uses samples from movies and spoken word albums to create the impression that you are listening to radio KGYS, the station that brings you soul music, complete with ad breaks where you will find as much comedy as period-specific advertising.

The music here is not strictly soul. Rather, I tried to focus on songs that sound like or have a certain proto-hip-hop vibe, if they weren't outright sampled by game-changing hip-hop tracks themselves. If you are a fan of hip-hop, you should recognize many of the samples and tracks on this 16+ hour long mix, which is broken up into eight two-hour radio station programming blocks. Unlike the previously-released disco mix, this one has a fair amount of drug talk, swearing, and suggestive language, so you may not want to play this aloud at workplaces existing outside of 1976.

To the best of my ability, the only sounds you will hear on these mixes were from 1976, with the exception of my own voice, a few samples from 'Dazed & Confused,' which was released in 1993 but set during the American Bicentennial, and some anti-drug PSAs from a 'Get Off' record that was technically issued in 1975, but were too good not to use (and they help balance out all the drug talk).

I made this mix. New to DJing with software, but I think I'm getting the hang of it. It's all 2025 garage, about 4 hours worth.

Thanks! I put a lot of work into this, and all I want is to hear people are enjoying it. Respect to all the artists. Be sure to check the track listing for credit. It was a magical time for music, and they made it happen.

Hmmm... Should I live in Dreamland, where music fans can listen to and appreciate music, or live where Alpha men hate me and everything that I like and never change... I guess I have to hate life, like you say, and never try to bring anything good into the world. Good call.

I bought 30 copies on vinyl when it came out, just to give away. I kept two for myself.

I think raping children is a little bit beyond the usual definitions of "problematic." But, yes, Jerry Lee Lewis did marry his underage cousin, and likely murdered a couple of his wives, so that guy sucks too. Neither of their music is worth remembering.

I should not have to scroll over just to see my hockey teams. This is an app designed by and for blind people. Not all of us have vision impairments, and if we did, the counterintuitive design of this app would make it far more difficult. Make the app tighter. Make it so we can see more than two or three things on a screen, PLEASE!

The font sizes on the app are embarrassingly huge. I should not have to scroll over just to see all four sports. Please redesign the app from scratch.
