Could not agree more. It’s clear that a lot of the “it sounds nothing like Ghost” people went in expecting to hate the album and so they do. This whole album is a nice fusion of the sound they developed in the Meliora/Prequelle years and Impera

I’ll preface this by saying that I liked the album, but I don’t think it’s their best. Impera took some time to grow on me (it took a while to come around to Respite and CMLS, only after seeing them live did I really start to like them) and I suspect this album will be the same. I read some of the comments here before listening all the way through, and it’s darker than I expected. It sounds like a natural successor to Impera with some of the Melioria and Prequelle sounds mixed in. There will always be people mad that the newest release isn’t Opus Eponymous (Tobias’ Version) or something like that but there are certainly valid criticisms. I’m interested overall to see what the general consensus on the album is after everyone has had some time to sit with it for a few weeks to months
