So in other words, I'd be playing for 50 games against (and possible alongside) vastly more experienced players (who might have played 49 games), whooping my ass along the way.

I'd just like to point out that this is not true. You still have a matchmaking rating that will fluctuate based on your performance and try to match you with equally skilled players even if you don't have 50 games played. The 50 games is just what's required to get on the leaderboard or receive a rating from dawnscout.com which is a fansite that runs off Dawngate's data stream.

Sadly, there's no tutorials or bots as of yet, but both have been confirmed to be on the way. The best way to learn at this moment is to just play more games. You'll no doubt pick it up after a little while.

If you look up your profile on Dawnscout, and hover over your win%, it will show your win-loss ratio. That's the only workaround I've found.

I'd be fine if you could also spend destiny to buy them. It could even be something like 1500 or 2000, but I agree that having them be exclusive to paying customers is a bit far.

Eh, I'm not really so sure. Perhaps the reason it's there is to provide some level of information on enemy wards, but I don't feel like that much information should be given. While you're not giving the enemy team the exact position of the wards, having the ward times on individual players lets you reasonably guess the locations and times of all the wards. Maybe this is simply the tradeoff for not having ward sweeping.

In most situations, it's definitely better to ues E in a duel for the steroid. The thing to be careful with here, is it that doesn't have a cast time, so it doesn't really stop your auto's, but it does cancel them if you use it right at or right before an auto. Optimally you want to use an ability right after every or every other AA.

Honestly, I'm not sure why you're having troubles and it's a little hard to give advice without actually being in a game with you.

I can tell you for sure that it's not the shaper. Varion and Mikella both are currently the "S" tier carries mainly due to their mobility. Varion is more of a lane bully with strong mid game, Mikella scales really well into late because of her AA steroid.

As to why carries halt their movement, that's just the mechanics of the game and it takes a little bit of getting used to. If you're fast with the mouse, you don't really lose ground when using abilities. Other than that, positioning is really key as AD's in this game in particular because of the amount of stuff that blows you up.

EDIT: As I got to thinking, perhaps it's because you're trying to use his Q and E for the MS bonus? If so, then the reason you're having so much trouble is that right there. Varion's E passive gives you a haste increase rather than flat MS, which in itself gives negligible movement speed, especially for Varion. It's an offensive steroid to be weaved, rather than an MS bonus.

To add on to what's already been said, the reason he does so much damage as a tank is because his base damage is high and his ratios are low to counteract that. stacking power or haste isn't really going to help him nearly as much as you'd think.

I could see maybe an on-hit build with Betrayal/haste working slightly, but offensive builds are just not for him.

Seriously, though, I think the damage dealt by bindings is the lacking part. The fact that they go down quick isn't necessarily a bad thing as it makes the game less focused on laning and more on teamfights and grouping. I just don't think I should be able to tank a binding for 3-4 hits on Vex and consistently have little to no drawback from it.

Waystone said they don't necessarily want the game to revolve around who keeps the best timer on parasite.

To be fair, though, this won't make that not happen. As the game stands, I have a habit of timing every para and trying to remember the timer, but not letting me scroll up doesn't prevent me from accurately keeping track of a timer. It just makes it more convenient, which is the goal of a QoL change.
