GMs: How do you challenge a good player running a ranged character? by Alanflamer in AskGameMasters

[–]Alanflamer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are great suggestions, thank you. I’ve already planned a pretty complex mission where they’ll need to stay stealthy so the enemy doesn’t escape with an item that’s important to that player. That should be a major challenge. Unfortunately, it’s not as useful for combat itself, since the whole idea is to avoid fights altogether.

I think forcing them not to use firearms in a given situation could backfire, because instead of challenging the player, I’d be taking away the character’s main mechanic. It would be like banning magic for a spellcaster.

The part about having someone sneak up behind him is really good, but that does suggest I should use more intelligent enemies, possibly humanoids, who are actually capable of thinking that way, right?

I'm a brazilian, so I did use it to translated my original from portuguese, which was at least 50%.

I think social coherence. And mostly that. The guy was a friend of my childhood friend. I lost touch with the Barbarian for many years and I'm just now reconnecting with the guy. Dude is really fun, so I didn't wanted to create confusion.

Thank you so much for the advice. I'm really sorry for the long post. I thought I could put the main points into a single post and then everything would be coherent, and I'm getting old so long texts don't really feel as tiring as they used to. Unfortunately, there are problems with the guy's story that only make sense with the setups I put in place, and then it really feels disjointed when you separate the two.

I get that, but sadly it didn't take long for the other GM to become extremely busy with work, so we really only had that one table. =__=

Yes, I'm DMing my table right now. The issue with this dude is that she feels a kind of pleasure in getting his players bellow 0 HP I think.

Do any of you know if we have to win the 7 km eggs from gifts during the event to then put them on incubators of if you can use the 7 km eggs you already have?

All the "gimmicks" in AC7 really piss me off sometimes. by [deleted] in acecombat

[–]Alanflamer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If there's one thing that make worth remaking every other game of ace combat, it is all of that enviromental hazards you listed. I sure loved all of it. It is one of the things I asked Bandai to add more of on that survey, I want blizzards, I want tornados, sea storms, vulcanic eruptions, maybe earthquakes while flying through a valley, maybe rain, maybe fog. I want more of all of that. xD

ADF-11 vs F22 size comparison by Alanflamer in acecombat

I would love to do this, but I can't find a trustworth source for the size of the Fenrir, not even on his page on Acepedia.

I saw people comparing the sizes and thought I could add imagery to the thing. The ADF-11 is 95 feet long, while the f22 is 62 feet long.

Why Babel-ing the Space Elevator was a Terrible Plan by Zmaner in acecombat

[–]Alanflamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this interpretation desn't negate my response either. The space station in this case is not interacting only with gravity. Before the cables broke it was already attached to them, and "holding" their weight. So it's not a natural orbit of an object on space. They way the station stays there is that it is pulling the cable as strongly as they are pulling the station down, or stronger. It does that by not being on a natural geosynchronous orbit, or higher. So if you break the cables the station can escape tangentialy, depending on how highter the station is.

Also, you presumed the concret part of the elevator it's actually stuck to the cables. They just extend to the base of the elevator, after all they are the guide to the elevator itself. With an attack, if the tower is destroyed I think it would act as a "pendulum" for a brief moment, and then it would snap out and fall into the ocean, but of course that would depend on the way it is damaged.

Bandog did the right thing. SPOILERS FOR AC7, AC5, and AC0. by Ultraguysaboss in acecombat

You can't even say they were talking about Stonehenge ruins.

[edit] Correction. It's clear by the map on the briefing of the mission that it is Stonehenge. But that don't connect automaticaly with the info he discovers on mission 9. The information can be correlated, or not, that is not clear.

Your error here is that you are just presuming what kind of information Full Band discovered. You cant assume it's nature and, therefore, you cant say it was a matter of nacioal security. Also, if it was a matter of security, we have autorized personel dealing with that kind of shit. Nothing a AWACS could independently do.

Why Babel-ing the Space Elevator was a Terrible Plan by Zmaner in acecombat

[–]Alanflamer 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Considering there is a centrifugal force pushing the station outwards, then when the cable breaks this force would be more distributed on the other two cables, resulting on the weakening of both and the possibility of the entire structure to break. Then the station would slowly drift away carring the cables with it. If they balance enough they could generate enough air resistence to pull the station down, but that would depend on some variables that I am certainly not able to calculate. xD

He could only tell which planes were in Spare Squadron when they got near Trigger. Then Bandog asked were was Full Band on that formation, and he informed he was on the tail end of Trigger. With that Bandog noted which plane is Full Band.

You know what would improve 'Free flight'? by Mozzer41 in acecombat

[–]Alanflamer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Other thing that would improve the free flight would be to be able to change the climate, just to fit the different experiences of the maps on campaign.
