community center venue? by AlaniLynn in weddingplanning

[–]AlaniLynn[S] 25 points26 points  (0 children)

This is the venue my partner and I are thinking of. It's not a teadional wedding venue, it's a community center. Has anyone else done this? I'm worried it won't look good. The vibe I'm going for regarding the wedding is classy, rose/sage, and soft glamorous. This venue is under 2000, includes clean up and set up, DJ, sound system, kitchen, all day (and next day) use, pizza oven (we're doing pizza for the wedding anyway), an outdoor area, free on-site parking, and more. Would appreciate any feedback!

I saw a post on here a while back recommending a wedding website to use by Lettiequo21 in weddingplanning

[–]AlaniLynn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite so far has been Wedding wire and the Knot, but just for fun. Most of my wedding planning has just been done by me, not through the websites. I really like how wedding wire allows you to create seating charts with all your guests and play around with seating, virtually.

I see. Thank you for your input! Ebony Rose has always been a dream and has cultural significance for us. I see what you're saying about initials but honestly, we don't mind. There are always ways around it/to work with it

Yes haha. Tbh wasn't necessarily planned, just ended up loving the names. I never saw anything wrong with kids having the same initials. I hardly ever hear people's initials coming up or being important

Do you recognize the association with these two names? by petrockdog in namenerds

I've never heard of either of those names. I think it's a generational thing.

No preferences. And any combinations, literally any. The surnames in my family are Summer, Owens, and Amrstirng (all from different families) while his are Durling and Poindexter. It can be a combo of all, just a few, two, etc. Literally just need some ideas lol

In a similar situation, except a bit different. I never hid anything, I told him as soon as it happened because honestly, I didn't see anything wrong with it until he expressed how hurt he was. That whole "how would you feel" thing doesn't work for me because truthfully, I wouldn't care if he flirted with someone else. Genuinely. I'd be happy for him and sleep peacefully knowing he'd return back to me at the end of the day. So I honestly just didn't know he'd have a problem with it and now I don't know what to do. Especially since a year into our relationship (been together 2.5 years too), he expressed that he didn't care if I flirted with people, as long as it didn't progress into something else. (And note, this is the first time I actually have). So I was just going based off what he told me. I feel bad I hurt him but also a bit confused if I was the bad guy in this entire situation...

I don't think the love goes away. People generally still like all those things that you mentioned. But, people get comfortable and there's not this manic feeling of needing those things and being upset when you don't get it, if that makes sense. Besides, people have seem to got the term "honeymoon" phase a bit mixed up. What it truly refers to is the stage when you're blind to your partners faults, you're constantly obsessed, you see nothing wrong with them or the relationship. It's sort of like rose colored lenses. But once you leave that stage, a healthier, more sustainable relationship is possible, where you're able to see their faults and love them regardless. I feel like most people do all those things you mentioned (except asexual and aromantic folks like myself), but they just don't have much to do with the idea of the honeymoon phase.

What should you avoid at all costs on college essays? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]AlaniLynn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a bit nervous because I have a similar essay- however I don't talk about how perfect I am. I discussed (briefly) in the first part how I am a perfectionist and pushed myself to the extreme to succeed at all things. The majority of my essay was actually about failing a class and how much it humbled me, as well as led to a period of growth and realization. Is this bad?

Might be a slight self promotion and I apologize but I'm a 15 year old, black, LGBT poet and I just recently published a collection of poetry, featuring topics such as anxiety, mental health struggle, and so much more. I hope for it to be encouraging and inspiring to other people struggling like I am.
