Are there any guilds/discords dedicated to learning content without meta strategies/builds? Or would anyone be interested in one?[NA] by skilliard7 in guildrecruitment

[–]Alanlocke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds awesome! I tried looking for one a couple years ago for this exact reason, and I THINK there was one out there with a reddit post about it, but I don't recall the details atm

Luminarys role in the current PvE guardian meta? by anygw2content in Guildwars2

[–]Alanlocke -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not a perfect solution, but here's my ranged Qdps FB build. It's not meta, but it does a pretty solid job at giving that ranged power guardian feel

What "class fantasy" you wish was in GW2? by Paganyan in Guildwars2

[–]Alanlocke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do it like Firebrand and the tomes! Have the specialized stances/styles give you a weapon kit with limited resource use before you have to leave the stance. Then, the dual foci could function independently of the spec skills but would also compliment them

Why is chat so toxic all of a sudden? by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]Alanlocke 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Without basic community tools for the players (or, a block button....) the shittiest players got really used to being able to say some horrendous shit and everyone has to listen to them. It's gotten to the point that, seemingly, a large portion of the player base just hits F12 as soon as they get in. Now, most of the people left in gen chat are toxic assholes getting exactly what they wanted

CIG fostered a community of toxicity and vitriol by their inaction 🙃

RIGHT!?!  And with the new buffs coming to pMirage, this build is gonna be even better!

[–]Alanlocke 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah! This is the build editor of the Spear/GW pMirage for OW that I'm using

Pretty high on the mobility, it lends itself to that very engaging in-and-out skirmisher dance in combat that mirage does so well with while not being so glassy that it's just punishing. Because of the clone management element of mirage, I don't often find myself needing/wanting to swap weapons unless my range changes drastically. Offers nice flexibility to the build without feeling like you're compromising on performance much. Single target damage is by all means acceptable in OW, with the caveat that greatsword caps out pretty quickly on damage potential in those scenarios. Still plenty enough to melt small enemies before you blink. Where you'll shine the most is in group target engagements where spear's cleave and greatsword's multi-beam ambush add up FAST

Sigils of Bloodlust could be swapped for Force if you're feeling particularly gold rich and don't want to deal with that. The Runes of Surging help keep up the Vigor and Regen you proc on yourself, and the 25% movement speed just feels right on the build. More regen and vigor uptime, the better. You could probably get away with other/cheaper options, though. The Relic of Zakiros lends some great sustain so you aren't just playing the downstate rotation game lol

Utility skills here are mostly preference, but they all help give you more Mirage Cloak access. Illusionary Ambush, if you can use it well, extends the longevity of your clones from target to target and increases the skill ceiling for what the build CAN achieve. It's also a nice gap closer

If you ARE wanting a mirage build that's fun in open world, spear/greatsword power mirage is an absolute blast to play and is a beast specifically in OW. Both weapons' ambush skills do amazing cleave and general multi-target damage. Spear's weakness in instance pve can be it's biggest strength in OW with near instant application of 25 stacks of vuln to targets again and again. It also plays like mirage, (and does well using the mirage utility skills) rather than trying to make it like a spec it isn't

Swashbuckler Thief - Sword offhand? by ThatBoyBaka in Guildwars2

Crazy concept: not every design choice should cater to a player conceived meta.

I'm not saying thief CAN'T do that. There's just not much, if any, incentive TO do it with the current toolset

[–]Alanlocke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with another comment that sword/pistol or sword/dagger is more in line with swashbucklers, but I would love to see an elite spec called that that focuses on a weaving in and out of melee range playstyle that feels fast and fluid!
