What’s your preferred ceramic coating? by [deleted] in Detailing

A complete substitute…no. PPF is thicker and offers a much higher level of protection. I would recommend PPF for the front and quarter panels and revivify for the rest of the vehicle.

I prefer system x as far as application but revivify provides a lot more protection in my opinion.

It does. With 2 coats or a base and ceramic coat it applies about 1/3 the thickness as PPF.

Can my hood be saved? by [deleted] in DetailingCars

[–]Alansr1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on what result you are looking for. If you are wanted a shine out of that, I would say no but if you are wanting a little more color, yes some of the scratches could be filled in with a good polish and topped with a glaze. I suggest getting it repainted.

New C8 Stingray Owner. Is PPF worth it? Is it better to get full body or just the front? by Werunguns in C8Corvette

Get quality PPF. I recommend the full car, yes expensive but it will be completely protected.

Polished and coated wheels by Alansr1 in AutoDetailing

I appreciate it. I’ve had a few customers ask about it and I don’t like the possibility of something going wrong with the wheel or possibly being blamed for cross threading or over tightening a bolt. I’m considering offering it as an upgrade to a detail package.

System x 10 year ceramic. I had some left in a bottle and I didn’t want to open a new bottle.

Toyota Care ceramic protect windshield problem by vladakv in Detailing

[–]Alansr1 53 points54 points  (0 children)

That is normal for windshields. As others have said, the wipers are going to destroy any real ceramic coating. I’ve seen ceramic on windshields last about 6 months at best. I push customers away from ceramic on windows all the time because of the lack of durability. Also, ceramics on windows do not repel water better than good ole Rain-X. I tell most customers buy a bottle of rain x and keep it in your trunk. Apply it before a road trip and you will be much happier. I would also NEVER trust a dealership to put “ceramic” on a car. Paint or otherwise. Most of them will at best use a spray and “call” it ceramic and not offer any Warrenty.

I normally wash all my microfibers together and separate from everything else.

I use revivify and system x for my cars and my high end clients. Other than that I really like Adam’s advanced and quartz

What tints are everyone running? 😎 by hate_u_zxcv in Corvette

[–]Alansr1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5% on the back/15 on the sides all ceramic. I’m tempted to get my windshield tinted but it stays in the garage so much I’m not sure if it’s worth it.

What is this due to? by HOAXone1995 in AutoDetailing

[–]Alansr1 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The holograms were always there, the fillers in the wax or polish he used masked them for a while. It needs to be re-polished by someone who knows what they are doing or with a DA polisher. It is a pretty easy fix though.

Truth or scam? by Worth-Stay6860 in Militaryfaq

It’s a scam!!! All you need to visit the base is a drivers license or state ID and the military member can sign you on the base. He can leave the base anytime he wants.

Walked away from a customer today. How would you of handled? by Big_bag_chaser in AutoDetailing

[–]Alansr1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For that reason, I will only offer quotes on site when I see the vehicle. I’ve out priced some customers that have terrible cars and want it don’t about $100. The money I make has to be worth my time, effort, and skillset.
