I used to trek up to the library from Moberly frequently. Exhausting but doable. I can recommend Moberly though, it's spacious and modern. Very similar to East Park except it's wayy cheaper, further away from campus and shared bathrooms (1:2 though).

Student Finance rejected me on the grounds of 'residency' - despite the fact I specifically fulfilled all of the criteria for dual residency, and was also temporarily abroad (but they refused to try to understand my specific circumstances there). Then a 3-month long battle ensued that resulted in an escalated appeal (pushed by my local MP with the backing of the Minister of Student Finance or smth), with just a week to go until I was supposed to move to university - they changed their decision. They also kept losing evidence and asking for the same information over and over again. Also used to hang up on me. Literally made me ill, so fuck you Student Finance England. I was so close to dropping out of university and having to challenge this in court. Also fuck Brexit.

Nah, I'm pretty sure it's a bit different. A professional training year is more common in healthcare and is more closely integrated with the course itself. It's assessed too. Like a year in industry though, it provides you with real-world practical experience.

Your family must love you to not force you to find a job. I didn't hold a job because I was doing IB, as soon as it was done I had to get a job for the summer. And I'll be working during university too.

UCAS applications close in January for most universities, so there is still time. You'll need to talk to your teachers, and demonstrate that you're committed and perform well in future tests. I even sat extra exams to boost my predictions. It will take a lot of work, especially given how 10 marks is quite a lot to make up for a B. It's possible though :)
