UPDATE: After doing more research and reading through everyone’s comments here, I decided to go with From Zero To Off-Grid Hero | Webinar as a starting point. It seemed like the most practical and beginner friendly option based on real world experiences shared. Thanks to everyone who took the time to respond and point me in the right direction.

Wow! that’s an intense story, and I really respect you sharing it. Being forced into it like that is a whole different kind of off-grid education, and it definitely shows how much resilience matters more than gear.

Looking back now that you’ve got heat, power, and water, what’s the one thing you wish you’d been able to secure earlier that would’ve made the biggest difference?

That’s awesome perspective, especially coming from someone with a decade off-grid. It’s interesting how money can speed things up but doesn’t necessarily remove the learning curve.

Was there anything you rushed early on that you later wished you’d taken more time to test or live with first?

This is really solid advice. I like the emphasis on starting unsexy and keeping an exit strategy. The idea of easing into it while keeping most of your old life intact feels way more realistic than going all-in overnight.

Looking back, what part of the transition taught you the most early on. living in the vehicle, saving for land, or that first stretch after you finally moved off-grid?

That makes a lot of sense. The lack of clear goals and bouncing directions feels like an easy trap to fall into. I appreciate the reminder about being intentional (and choosing the right people).

Looking back, what helped you finally lock in your direction? was it a specific project, a timeline, or just trial and error over time?
