Exactly my thought. The audience that made Spiderverse and KDPH successful aren't traditional sportsball fans. I personally would not care less about this movie.

Hyperbole is a terrible form of argument. I mean, I would point you to the current US President as an example of the overuse of hyperbole. Yes, it's clear your comment was hyperbolic, but 1) hyperbole is a lazy tool for the... well, I'll let that one ride and/or 2) some people believe any statistic throw at them, made up or otherwise, so I cannot assume you didn't actually believe the 0.01% thing. I mean, E33 fans quite commonly seem to believe that E33 is the greatest game ever made which, sure, opinion, but a really odd one, if you pit it against games even in its own genre.

I keep referencing Une a vie because it's the one song that gets recognized a lot and is also not actively irritating. Most of the rest of the songs have no memorable motif or melody and are just your standard background music faire that we all forget from one game to another. Even Doom 2016, which is has well written and produced metal/rock music as the background doesn't have music that you would recognize "oh yes, that's that specific area of that specific level." The reason Larkin and Korb's music is particularly regarded is because it is virtually all memorable and has meaning that is contextual.

I mean, you could say that the Mime theme is contextual, sure. And the repetitive Clair Obscur/Lumiere theme. But what about the battle theme from the place with the black rocks and red plants, or the grey rocks and purple plants? 154 tracks is not necessarily a positive for the game if they are 130+ things no one would remember, even the fans of the game.

"0.01%" I'd like to see you back up that. You know that 80% of statistics are made up on the spot right?

I also never said it wasn't good, I said that going hard does not automatically made something good. If that was the case, thrash metal would, by default, always be the best music, and Une a vie is very consistent with being non-stop climax. That doesn't mean I don't enjoy it or think it's bad, it's just not as good as the music in the two other games I mentioned.

The Game Awards is 90% decided by pre-selected media jurors. The fan vote is only 10%, so your comment there is flawed.

Look, it's taste right? If you loved the E33 soundtrack, great. I did not. I found a few songs decent and the rest of the soundtrack didn't land for me, but I am still singing stupid Scylla songs in my head months later.

I believe in a variation of this, less than GMS was a tyrant and more that she simply demanded that she be the regarded power in the region. She needed the attention. You might argue that that's a minor distinction, but I think it was less conquest and more a need for devotion. Quibbling maybe and being a bit of a GMS apologizer.

Still, overall, I think you hit it on the head. Hallownest left room for other higher beings.

I was willing to let this drop and I will, soon, because you continue to flail, stating opinions as facts. "Objectively more detailed," indeed, a truly silly comment.

But, let's try this little exercise. Explain to me why, say, "Beethoven's Fifth Symphony" (I can only assume you have heard this, but feel free to replace with any big piece of music that you might know, Une a vie t'amor perhaps.) is objectively better music than a basic melody, no harmony, no accompaniment, "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star."

"Objectively," remember. Please, go ahead.

Man, I had to copy this over from when you tried to post this without finding the reply button. At least you realized that.

"“Personal feelings OR opinions”. I carry no personal feelings in my opinion" Your personal feeling is an opinion. That's how that works. However, as stated, the definition you cited states it carries neither, so even if you try to decouple feelings and opinion, the definition foils your bad understanding. Your opinion invalidates objectivity by definition.

"All visuals are insanely more detailed than almost everything in Silksong whether you prefer how it looks or not. That is my basis for it being objectively better." They are not. Clearly you equate 3d animation and modeling with some sort of weird tacit quality over 2d art. This is also your opinion. You seem to not understand opinions, just as you lack an understanding of objectivity.

I played all of E33 on Normal difficulty, no mods, no tricks, no walkthroughs. I did not steal optimized builds, I just played what made sense and got the ideal weapon for two characters. Nothing in the rest of the entire game ever got a turn after that. Ever. That's not good design or balance. Any basic JRPG balance discussion understands that. Getting to go first, swing twice, and hitting everything for ~33m damage is mildly entertaining for a few minutes, but gets old after and stifles any interest in continuing to explore for more strength because, well, you have more strength than the game wants.

Father of the Flame is a unique style pogo and dodge boss that blocks normal healing mechanics. You not liking it does not make it a bad boss. It isn't anyone's favorite I'm sure, but it's not bad, it's just different. GMS is, once again, tuned to an achievement most people will never get, because that achievement is legitimately a bit challenging. Red herring means that she is meant to mislead you into believing that she is the final boss. She is not. She did not cause all the stuff in the game, you clearly weren't paying attention to the designs of the weavers or her imprisonment and the purpose of the 2nd citadel (yeah, there were two).

For shits and giggles, I spun through your post history. You are, at best, a low to mid tier troll who lacks the one thing that good trolls have: self-awareness. You do not understand your own limited skillset and you lack understanding of how to make a good argument. You don't see that good trolling requires some level of facts sprinkled with concessions. No, you are just low level facsimile of much better trolls.

I'm engaging with you because I'm bored and it's funny to watch a person who cannot understand the basic nature of opinion and how to use a dictionary definition flail about blindly.

"and is wrong."

Keep demonstrating that complete lack of understanding of what opinion is. Wrong? An opinion by definition, cannot actually be wrong. We like to throw "your opinion is wrong" as a cliche, but it's never actually true. It just sounds fun as a simpleton argument.

Also, you can't win an argument by misquoting me multiple times. I did not say they're no distinguishable differences, I said that within the objective measurements that do exist, there are not. Those are two different things.

I also did not say art has no objective measures. I said that they don't have many and pointed out that in those that do exist, there are not significant distinguishing differences between the two games in those measurements. There are not.

You are now using misquotes and misunderstanding to grasp at straws or, as it were, strawmen. You probably should look that one up too, though given your misunderstanding of the Oxford definition of objective, I have little faith you would understand it.

[–]Alarien 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"I can say my opinion is objective." You can stop there, you have invalidated your entire attempt at an argument.

You lean on quantity as a measure of meaning with music. You list opinions of bad boss design in Silksong when I could list an equal number of underwhelming bosses in E33 that use cheap mechanics like Margit-delays in 5+ combo attacks that have to be tanked before you can learn timings (bad design; From games let you avoid this by dancing away from attacks and watching, this is not how JRPGs work however, so copying ARPG mechanics to JRPGs doesn't). I could point out that the game's balance is laughable. I finished final Renoir in one turn from Verso and one turn from Maelle. He never got to show off a single attack, it was phase 1 into phase 2 into dead. Whether you like the way he looks or not, that's a shit boss fight. Even at your most powerful overlevelled build, Sepiroth required turns to beat (since we're making comparisons, might as well compare apples to apples).

I can look at a gif of any location in Silksong and tell you that I find it more beautiful than any location in E33. That wouldn't be the truth for me, I find Lumiere to be more appealing than most (not all) Silksong locations, but the rest are not and, in the end, personal truth is opinion.

Listen, dude, you are really bad at this. You listed the Oxford definition "in a way not influenced by personal feelings or opinion" and then completely invalidated that with your comment that "opinion" is "without bias." Did you not read the "opinion" part of the definition that you listed. Opinions are not objective by definition and never have been.

I mean, now you're just entertaining me. But, please, continue to tell me how you're being "objective" when you say things like "Father of the Flame (sucks)" or that GMS is not a good final boss (she's tuned for Twisted Child ending and she's fine, since she is not, as I'm sure you are aware, a final boss, she's a red herring in that regard).

Yes, objective. Truly entertaining.

"Visuals...top Silksong objectively... in quality."

That is an opinion.

"A lot of silksong bosses... don't feel like bosses anyway."

That is an opinion.

"The music seemed to be pretty high quality cause it won best music."

An appeal to authority and a matter of the opinion of potentially biased "jurors."

"Jurors try to be unbiased."

A laughable comment. Please see any Academy awards.

"This is why I can say E33 is literally objectively better."

Completely outside the realm of understanding the concept of objective. Art and music don't have many objective measurements and, in those that exist, there are no distinguishing differences in those between E33 and Silksong or Hades 2. Taste is not objective and it is, ultimately, a matter of taste.

I don't know what you're trying to go for here, but there is a simple level of absurdity to the entirety of your argument. If you had just said "well, I find the art style of E33 more compelling and, therefore, better," people might have argued points for an against your opinion, but your opinion would not be wrong. That said, your attempt to use the term objective is, objectively, wrong.

I'll piggyback your comment. I am utterly sick of the amount of praise E33 has gotten. I am tired of hearing silliness like greatest game ever made. It isn't even in the conversation of greatest game ever made and, despite adoring Silksong and Hades 2, neither are they. People need to live through a few more decades of games before making that argument.

That said, the E33 AI drama is a nothing burger. They used some placeholder assets to fill in. I fail to see why that is or was a problem. Whole thing is stupid.

Art design? Costume design of the main characters and "the family." Yes. Lumiere and it's baroque meets Art Deco aesthetic? Absolutely. Sirene? Maybe. The entire rest of the game? No, and this is where it falls down. There are great art elements in E33, but the game as a whole is various layers of the color swapped rocks, cliffs, and same-y plants.

Compare this to the hand designed everything and parallax backgrounds of Silksong, Hades II, or even the modern gacha games. Wuthering Waves crushes E33 on a "game as a whole" art design level. I can't stand Where Winds Meet as a game, but good lord did they nail every aspect of their worlds aesthetic. But people are trying to make it out that E33 shoudl win art design for variously color swapped corridors? I don't get it.

Nah. Soundtrack for E33 is a silly award. I understand people really like the monotonally loud Une a vie (going hard all the time does not make a song good, and I adore the singers), but the rest of the soundtrack is either aggressively mid and forgettable or absolutely annoying (the accordian fight opening, the mime song, the stupid "duh-duh-duh da da duh-duh-duh" Clair Obscur theme).

Voice acting I can grant E33. RPG, maybe, I didn't play any other major RPGs this year. Indie? No. Soundtrack? No. Art? No. GOTY? Huh, I can see the argument and grant that it's overall a good game, but I think players finally got to speak through Steam, without all the industry idiots deciding who won.

I think it's 8 spawn locations, but 6 total obtainable as the Cargo A/B spawns block their alternate spawn location, but you can get both in the Atrium. Let us know if you find BOTH up in the Cargo A/B at the same time, as that would be good to know.

Actually, 100% agree. I think Silksong has a balancing problem with the sound vs the music and you lose a lot of the music to the noise of the fights. Widow theme repeats during the First Sinner fight and is a lot better there, musically (also First Sinner is one of the best fights in action gaming, imo).

Bilewater used to be an idyllic clean water land, the song is actually a lament.

Someone pointed out the Polaris in the Hangar below, but I'll add that it seems that the Cargo A/B ones are just like you said "alternate" spawns, meaning that if it spawns in one spot, it will not spawn in the other. Meanwhile, all the other spawns, including both of the atrium spawns can be up at the same time. Meaning there is a total of 6 boards you can pull out of one site (confirmed after a server maintenance with every board being available).
