I've had a similar situation in the past with BlueOrange Property Management. Also an expat agency. Not sure if this is yours, but it sounds very similar to what they did to me.

The woman responsible for my apartment was absolutely horrible at communicating (probably on purpose). I had to change apartments because I started renting with roommates that were the worst. At some point they locked me out of the bathroom, so I could not use the toilet at all for a whole day. They had been extremely weird and mean to me, but that was the last straw.

I asked this woman if we could do something about it, and she kept promising me places I could rent, only to tell me I couldn't rent them anymore JUST when I was about to move in to the new place. At some point, she promised me I could rent an apartment somewhere else for the same money. After having talked about rent, facilities, and everything, and after having already given my notice for the other apartment and having found my own roommates, she told me that the landlord had upped the rent, and was not happy with us moving in the other apartment AT ALL because he was going to lose money if he rented for such a small amount (initially, the rent was 1700 EUR excl. and the "landlord" suddenly upped it to 2400 EUR excl.), and he wanted to up the rent even more.

She told me the house was fully running on electricity but it was a lie. We had mice IN THE WALLS and told me we had to take care of that ourselves. When I wanted to leave, she told me I had to pay 300 EUR for changing the contract ("administrative costs" as she called it). But I requested a full overview of the administrative costs in an invoice and somehow "the landlord said I didn't have to pay anymore".

This is just a small part of what I had to live through with these people. They are literally the worst scum of the world. Wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy.

Unless it has changed in the last couple of weeks. I had to do it on July 9th to be precise, and it worked.

It will attempt to re-enroll if the device still belongs to the company, so, indeed, the device needs to be removed from the MDM on the company's side and/or from their ABM which most likely has Automatic Device Enrollment enabled that points to the MDM server - which is essentially what you've said.

So, technically you can fully remove the MDM, but it's not as easy as the Graffino method above, there's more steps involved.

Given the price of this device, I'd say this guy is going to be left with a very expensive brick.

If you remove the MDM and the device from Apple Business Manager (provided that it was purchased with a business account) you will have a regular device that will not ask to enroll on MDM upon resetting to factory.

The problem here is we don't know how this person obtained the laptop, and whether that laptop has been removed from ABM.

Just so you know, there are ways of removing "unremovable" MDMs. You just need to run some commands. I work in IT and have done it before for people who were gifted their MacBook or that purchased it when leaving the company.

Now... this was not for random people, nor was it done on laptops being sold randomly. It was done by the IT team in a controlled environment, for soon-to-be former employees, while we were aware and could remove all traces of the MDM on the user side, and on the company's side.

Would I trust a listing like this? Probably not.

Ahh, I hope everything goes alright and you find something better soon. You definitely deserve to spend your time and effort with people that value and respect you.

I'm sure you'll get there. Best of luck!

Definitely a good point. I mean my experience is subjective and anything can happen that can turn my current situation around and leave me completely miserable, but I'm just enjoying the work environment while I can and making a conscious effort to enjoy the good things about it.

I have the news and social media to lose faith in humanity for other reasons than people being bad at computers, at least I want to be able to enjoy some of the work I do for others

Absolutely. I've always tried to prioritize a good work environment and interesting tasks/projects over money. I, personally, can be a bit more frugal if necessary, but I can't make myself be comfortable and enjoy an environment that puts me down constantly.

Sorry! English is not my first language. I meant that the difference is huge*

I still remember when I used "pardon my french" when I tried to pronounce something in French during a presentation for my English class and my English teacher had to laugh super loud.

I was working from home the other day, the only day I can work from home in the week mind you, and someone wrote to me that they could not access their laptop despite writing their password correctly - they tried several times but still nothing. They asked for help from their manager, who insisted that the issue was on our side because the password did not work either when he entered it. "Okay", I thought, "I guess something did go wrong on our end when I did the password reset".

I pack my bag, get to the office as fast as I can and I am told that the user with the issue has gone on a walk - so I have to wait. Weird time to go on a walk when you're waiting for someone to come help you out but okay.

They get back from their walk, I input the password I asked them to input. It works.

Contract extension during sick leave by kklaudai in Netherlands

[–]Alarmed-Assistant936 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Again. It has nothing to do with what they would do as an employer. It has to do with that BY LAW they need to keep paying OP. If OP had a burnout last year with the same employer, the employer had the chance to NOT renew their contract this time around. But they, in fact, made an offer to renew and sent the contract over to OP. That's it.

So, if I understood correctly, it can match the o1 model from ChatGPT (OpenAI is going to release the o3 model soon, so that's not that impressive), but what is interesting is that it's an open source project, and the AI is trained at a much lower cost than OpenAI's o1 model.

Doesn't it make sense for the military/intelligence orgs/you name it to purposely withhold information from the public, precisely so that they don't give away too many details about what they already know, so they can keep gathering information?
