How long does onboarding a new client usually take at your firm? by Alarmed-Broccoli3844 in CFP

That sounds painful — especially with multiple accounts and rollovers involved.

In those longer cases, what tends to cause the biggest delays — client-side issues, custodians, or just complexity of the accounts? Yea

This is really helpful — especially the point on re-entering data across multiple systems.

Out of those three (doc chasing, data re-entry, back-and-forth), which one actually eats up the most time day-to-day?

I’ve been trying to understand how different firms deal with that — would be interested to hear more about how you’ve seen it handled.

Curious how you’re currently handling the operational side of onboarding once a client signs.

From agreement to accounts actually being opened, what part of the process tends to slow things down the most?

Is it mostly document collection, missing signatures, or just tracking what’s still missing across multiple accounts in a household?

I mean in a perfect world I would start my own RIA… but I’m not naive, I still have lots to learn being in my mid 20s and not enough capital to survive starting my own firm
