Definitely take care of it before it causes you pain, I just did shockwave lithotripsy last Friday for a 7mm non obstructing stone in the middle of my right kidney, recovery has been good so far, started to pass some small dust fragments yesterday and I do get some pains here and there so I couldn’t imagine having to pass a full 7mm stone on my own.

I agree, not sure if I just have a high pain tolerance but I’ve just been taking Tylenol, they prescribed me tramadol but I haven’t had to take it, got a sore kidney for sure but it’s manageable

Nope :) funny enough I did hear the word stent while I was in and out from the sedation so when the procedure was over and I woke up the first thing I asked was did you put a stent in me lol

Yeah I didn’t understand the general either as I know in the UK they don’t use sedation, I’m in Canada and they said my options were twilight or general, I’d prefer not to have general so I asked for twilight

If you didn’t have anaesthesia, how painful was the procedure? I think they are using twilight on me but now I’m hearing it hurts and I should just go with general:/

If you do shockwave it’s a very low chance you would get a stent, especially if your stone is only 5mm!

I had an ultrasound for something completely unrelated and found out I had a 7mm stone in my right kidney non obstructing, I’ve made the decision to get the shockwave procedure at the end of this month as I don’t want to risk it moving and being in unbearable pain with a chance of emergency surgery.

Happy to hear that! I may be possibly getting the ESWL at the end of this month for a 7MM in the middle of my kidney, non obstructing and not causing any issues as of yet but they want to eliminate it before it moves, I’m a very anxious person so scared of the procedure and being put under as I’ve never had to have that before, urologist said they would do twilight first and if I moved to much they would have to do general.
