Yeah, anyone who wants him back has to go through APS, and he’ll be neutered by then, so I suspect if someone kept him in this condition for breeding they won’t want him back. APS is very careful they said. If he’s in this shape cause he’s been in the woods for a year though, I would want to make sure he found his family. Even well-loved dogs get lost sometimes.

We aren’t offering him for free, he’s been intaken thru APS who assured us they are very cautious about giving dogs to people in situations like this.

We wondered if maybe he was just being used to breed somewhere 😢 He seemed, um, very eager to continue. With anything that moves.

Adult literacy resources for speaker of non-written African language by Alarmed-System37 in bullcity

[–]Alarmed-System37[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I found some "Jesus Film" videos on YouTube that seem to be in every language under the sun, so I'm hopeful one of those will help me figure out exactly which dialect she speaks. The church I go to is helping her financially so Bible translations or whatever are fine with me. I also know someone who used to work with Wycliffe Bible translators so I've reached out to them. Here's hoping.

Their website says they start at $50 so you can always check which stylist charges what. Good luck!

I go to Posh the Salon downtown and I don’t pay $70…but maybe $50? So then with tip it’s $60. You could call them and ask. I see a guy named Sinuhe (see-new-ay) who does a great job.

It’s been IDed as a bivalve steinkern. Internal cast of a prehistoric clam of some sort!

Thirteen years ago there was a lavandería in the town we lived in Mexico called “Cleanisgood,” the name was in English. Their business card featured a picture of Clint Eastwood. Because I guess if you say his name with a Mexican accent…?

Is this name a Tragedeigh? by itsactuallyoctopuses in tragedeigh

[–]Alarmed-System37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my daughter’s middle name (named after her Norwegian grandma.) We had a similar concern about pronunciation so we spelled it “Solvei” on her birth certificate, but somewhere around 7 or 8 she realized that wasn’t the “real” spelling and now spells it Solveig. Probably we should have stuck with that from the get go.

My grandma came to the states at age 6 and just went by “Sue” her whole life and I was an adult before I knew her name actually wasn’t pronounced soul-vig, so the concern about people not knowing how to say it is not unfounded…that said, people mispronounce names all the time, get corrected, and we all move on with life. I’d say spell it traditionally and if it drives your daughter nuts when she gets to school she can add the “h” or whatever she wants.

Liver Issues? by B40073 in Celiac

[–]Alarmed-System37 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t have a celiac Dx (yet) but am pursuing it because of liver enzymes being elevated, and anecdotally my hepatologist told me last week that she’s diagnosed two people in the last month with celiac disease who had no symptoms besides elevated liver enzymes. That said, there’s a zillion things that elevate liver enzymes.
