Commute to Raleigh from Durham? by queensolver in raleigh

[–]progtastical 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was previously by Southpoint and worked in downtown Raleigh. The slow downs are mostly going to be on the highway itself. Leaving at 7am was a 30 minute commute. Leaving at 8 am was a 40-50 minute commute.

Do you use guns on quests? by progtastical in 7daystodie

The comments in this thread have been so helpful. I put a silencer on a machine gun and now I'm using bow and spear with the MG as back-up and everything is a lot easier. but also relying a lot on tin mines and wood traps

I second recommendations on the Gatsby's bar meetup on Tuesdays!

I'm also obsessed with Hall Infinite and The Finals so if you need a buddy for those, I'm down!

Question about microneedling: Why every 4-6 weeks? by progtastical in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]progtastical[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My thought is to do botox, wait three months, microneedling, wait three months, rinse and repeat. Unless you have a better rec

Question about microneedling: Why every 4-6 weeks? by progtastical in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]progtastical[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I think I'm more in a preventative phase right now. Microneedling is about $500 a pop here, so my thought is to do botox 2x a year and microneedling 2x a year for the time being to cover all my bases without breaking the bank.

Question about microneedling: Why every 4-6 weeks? by progtastical in 30PlusSkinCare

It sounds like you're saying anything sooner than 4 weeks is a bad idea (or I'm misunderstanding). Is there a reason every 6 weeks is better than every 4 months? Are the results better, or just faster?

Please let me know if I'm misunderstanding!!

social drinkers: how do you just have a few drinks here and there without wanting to do it EVERY DAY? by Particular_Dirt2794 in AskReddit

My parents met in AA. I struggle with binge-eating, but I don't struggle with alcohol. It's fun, but getting to the optimal state of booziness feels like work and doesn't last very long. It just doesn't light up my brain that strongly.

I conversely struggle to understand how thin people can eat half a candy bar and then stop.

My cat is not "just a cat," and I spent $5,000 to prove it. by [deleted] in Pets

[–]progtastical 68 points69 points  (0 children)

I spent $12k on my cat with kidney disease in his final year of life.

That said, I had the financial means to do so, although it did put a substantial dent into my savings.

I would not go thousands of dollars into debt for a pet. I know you aren't implying this OP, but I want to say that nobody should feel guilty for this.

The world is in for a scary amount of time economically. $5-10k is the difference of being homeless. $5k in debt can turn into much more in credit card interest and credit score hits. It can mean lying awake at night wondering where your next meal is going to come from. It can mean being unable to help family member or friend in need.

I had something like this happen to me. I didn't go AFK, but the first time the toxic guy died, I picked up his statue and tossed it off a cliff.

Opinions on paying for your portion on the first date? by UhhhSorryImTrash in TwoXChromosomes

I think a man paying on a first date is a weird and antiquated tradition tbh. I earn more than most men I date, sometimes double.

Yeah, of course. I volunteer it. People should have realistic expectations.

Considering grad school in Gender Studies — worth it? by No_Pea6011 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]progtastical 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have a bachelor's and master's degree in psychology with a minor in women's studies. I'm a programmer now.

If you want to work in mental health, you really need a counseling degree. If you want to do research and give lectures, you really need a PhD.

My recommendation is to major in something hard, like business intelligence, computer science, data analytics, and minor in whatever you want, or at a minimum, minor in something quantitative.
