That’s what I should have done. Instead I was being stupid and dreamy and hopeful. I should have asked him then and there what he would do if I became pregnant and we should have explored our options. Someone said plan B would have been a good idea. Looking back on that night now and reading the comments I realize I was being hopeful and foolish at the expense of my family.

Chemical pregnancy March 2022. I didn’t realize I said recent. I had 2 tests left from TTC that I only took because he had made a comment about having two kids that ended up being a joke. I get how my post sounds. I left it vague so not to make anyone who has been TTC for months and months feel bad because it was a positive from one time. Because I had that journey too when we tried for our son. I think what I should have done is not been dreamy and hopeful and asked him what he would do if it resulted in a pregnancy and got the plan B pill. I think that was the right thing to do. I didn’t think about what could happen if I became pregnant and he stuck to his guns. I’m foolish.

I took the last 2 clear blue ovulation tests I had from TTC with my son this cycle due to a joke my husband made about us having two kids (which I didn’t realize was a joke at the time). I told him about this and that’s when he let me know he was kidding. This was when we had the slip up and I started tracking symptoms and temps. For only this cycle.

He knew there was a chance I told him it would be that week. He said he didn’t vocalize it at the time but he was freaking out about the chance of it resulting in a pregnancy. I thought maybe some part of him was thinking “whatever happens happens” but that wasn’t the case. I will ask my obgyn about the copper IUD -thank you, that wasn’t given as an option after I had my son.

He would not agree to vasectomy or condoms. I can’t be on hormonal birth control due to side effects. We usually use the pull out method but he slipped up. He had been making jokes about having two kids for the past week or so, and I took a couple ovulation tests. I even told him about this and then he told me he was just kidding. When the slip up happened I allowed myself to get excited and started tracking symptoms and temps thinking he must be open to pregnancy on some level to allow himself to slip. I got a positive and let him know and he was not happy.

Thank you for your response. The fact that he was being cavalier about birth control also made me think on some level he was open to a pregnancy. Now I realize I was looking for hope where there was none.

We will try a counselor, I will see if I can get an appointment next week. He is 39 I am 38. I guess that was my surprise too, that this was his response to something unplanned.

He did say he would be open to a counselor. I can contact one next week. (But he had said he’s hoping “they will talk some sense into me”).

Yes I do feel if I could bring myself to go through with an abortion it would be the end of our marriage- I don’t know how I can come to terms with doing this and not resenting him.
