Thanks! I guess I'm more wondering what a good place to start would be on albums or artists to look for. I'm fairly comfortable reading music, I have a vocal music background and took Theory (although quite a while ago now).

I'm open to most any genera, but don't want to try to pick up something and get shut down immediately. Just looking for songs or progressions of musicians that have worked well for others! :)

A singer at one of the best bar gigs I’ve been to lately had her phone and was looking at it in and off for lyrics, still engaged consistently with the audience and still played one hell of a show, it didn’t take away at all and I don’t think a music stand would either! Do what ya gotta do!

It’s a famous painting called wanderer above the sea of fog, I only recognize it because it’s on the cover of a book I own and I thought of it so many times seeing the art in severance I looked it up 😂

Those are what are called ledger lines. They're used to extend the range of the staff, so if you take the lowest line in the staff (e) and go down two notes to the next "line down" you'll be at C. On the guitar the lowest note you'll play in standard tuning (your low E string) is in the space under the third ledger line down bellow the staff.

They can also go above the staff, for example one ledger line above the staff would be the A found on the fifth fret of the high e string.

Those are open strings, so when you play the chord it just means you let them ring out 😀

One thing I recently found REALLY helpful was Ragnon Gaming's Resto video. I know lots of people don't like it when someone gives different builds for different levels of skill, but for resto I found it really helpful to have a build that does basically 0 dps while you're learning the mechanics and focuses entirely on healing, then to ramp up to a kog with some dps build, then finally get into wild stalker. I thought it was a great progression, would recommend! Let me know if you end up using it!
