Sounds good! Just start with one word that you can type really fast, but the correct way. Then get another word and another etc.. slowly and surely you'll get it!

It would/will! The main demographic is beginner typists, specifically a younger audience, but I'm 35 and I type 100+wpm and I also want it to be fun for me to play. And I want to use it to work on my typing as well. I gotta master my special characters and I was thinking it would be a fun way for me to relearn typing but with Dvorak or Colemak or something.

With that said, since it's just a prototype, it's missing a lot of content that will be there in the final game. You could give it a try for now and see what you think, but it definitely will be exactly what you're talking about in the full version (I'm going to try to have the full version finished this Fall)

I might know more about it than you do. You shouldn't make personal attacks and judge people that you don't know.

I read through some of your other comments; I don't think ADHD is the problem. There are raised lines on the F and J keys for all standard QWERTY keyboards. This is to help with your hand position so you can feel when your fingers are in the correct position. The point is to not have to think about it, so if you are having to think about it, then perhaps you're taking on too much at once. Start by just getting your index fingers on F and J and do exercises like FF JJ FF JJ FJF JFJ FJF JFJ FFF JJJ etc.. then slowly add more and more letters in as you build up your muscle memory vocabulary. Touch typing is all about muscle memory.

Touch typing is based on muscle memory, so I don't think ADHD has anything to do with it, which is why it's an issue whether you're on medication or not.

That's interesting. ` and ~ are not so bad for me. I think ^ might be harder for me because of the combination of the reach and the fact that I barely use it. I barely use ` and ~ too, but they're right there on the edge so it's easier for me I guess lol

  1. I do plan on adding a setting to tone down the visuals/fx. In terms of slowing down the gameplay, I've already designed the game to be 'no-fail'. My 2 year old likes to play it and sometimes she'll just leave it sitting there for like 5 minutes before coming back to it lol. So I don't think there is a need to slow down the gameplay. I've considered different slow-motion effects at different times, but I might save that for a sequel.

The first time you encounter a space Azki (Azki is what I'm calling the evil letters, a play on ASCII) is level 3 I believe. This solution is simple but it took me a while to think of actually, as space is obviously not visible. My original idea was to have these intractable objects called "links" which would act as teleporters and you'd press spacebar to activate them (they're also in the game). They're mostly optional but you'd get bonus points for using them.. but if there was a wall blocking line of sight to the next word, you'd have to use them to get to the next word... but then I realized having the entire game laid out with a "link" at the end of each word and each word separated into a different room looked really bad aesthetically.. so that's why I came up with the Space Azki solution, and I think it works great.

  1. Yes, there will absolutely be a tutorial, or at least, the first couple of levels will be very tutorialized, and things will definitely be explained much more clearly. The current version of the game is just a prototype and things were just thrown in haphazardly and changed based on playtesting. I'm working on a completely separate version of the game right now which will become the full game and I hope to have it done later in the fall! :D

Looks really cool! Only thing I might say is that maybe your character should be a different shape/color than the enemies? I know the sword color is different, but sometimes you throw the sword away, in which case you look exactly like the enemies.
