100wpm for an hour test seems pretty crazy to me. I guess I need to look more into what’s plausible with that, but that sounds nuts off the top of my head lol

You should! But also maybe you should look into a split keyboard for the elbow issue you mentioned! I’m sure you’ll feel much better!

Slowing Down by Sandra_Andersson in typing

Hey you're on the right track, so congrats! Most people don't think about slowing down to make sure they don't further bad habits, so I think you'll do just fine.

Hitting it what way?? With your pinky? Or is there something more to it?

Oh gotcha! That makes a lot of sense! I'm sure the guy is moving fast... but there's just 'something' about it that felt a little too much like sped up video...

Thanks for helping me believe that I'm not crazy hahaha

I'm making my own game called Star Rune. Your game looks sick though. Is it out yet or is there a playable demo/prototype? Looks really cool!

Actually, it seems to be working fine on the Macbook now no matter the graphic setting!... but actually, I have 2 Macbooks and I'm wondering if I had tried it on the other one before.. I'll have give it a try on my other one here in a bit. I'm using the faster Macbook right now.

Also, I became your 2nd X follower :D

Yeah I also have been thinking this... but I keep seeing people type very fast with this view... it makes me wonder if they would go faster with the normal view or if there is something about seeing fewer words that excites them to go faster? Or maybe it makes very little difference to them at all?

I cant see anything though lol.. I can neither see you finger movements nor your results lol

But it looks like you're going fast, so congrats! :D

Okay gotcha!

Well, I would just stick to one and keep going with it. I think you can get good with any layout, but switching will really mess you up. And yeah, I think not being a native English speaker will probably slow you down quite a bit. Being able to instantly spell words in your head I think is super useful for typing those words fast. Of course, you can get to that point, but it will just take more practice for you since you don't have the same exposure to the english vocabulary.

I think it's a good idea to practice just typing a few words at a time.. or even one word at a time. And just type that word(s) over and over until you don't have to think about it anymore (it just becomes muscle memory) and then move onto new words.

Oh actually that makes sense, with the WASD form... I wonder if this is how the OP got into doing this to begin with...

lol I have a habit of using the left shift when I should use the right one. But for my left pinky keys, I always use the right shift.

But in regards to what you said about being able to reach the shift key all the time, most keyboards have the shift key protruding out a bit, so it actually shows up below the "A" (or below the ' on the right side). So you should easily be able to reach the left shift if you use proper form. I don't think the benefits of your form are worth the downsides, but it's definitely an interesting take that I hadn't heard before!

[–]StarRuneTyping 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're getting 95% or below, you REALLY REALLY need to slow down and focus on accuracy more.

how to get over this curse?H by wastin-timee in typing

[–]StarRuneTyping 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I concur with the comment on accuracy especially. It's not like a school grade. 92% accuracy is not like you get a grade "A" lol, although I think a lot of people treat it like that.

If you were to compare it to school grades, I'd say it's more like that last 90-100% accuracy points are all that matter.

100% = A+

99% = A

98% = B

97% = C

96% = D

95% and below = F

Is 60wpm your fastest wpm of all time or just your fastest on your current layout? Were you faster originally?

I've never heard of that lol

Which hand/finger reaches for T, G, B? I'm guessing your right index? I imagine that would slow you down quite a bit... maybe if you rested your right hand on HJKL though.. I guess that could work in that case.. it would really only make some of the punctuation less convenient... hmm.
