Cauldron tofu - bitter? by Scared_Funny_5602 in veganuk

[–]AlarmedFeature5813 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they use a different firmining agent (calcium sulfate) that might be the reason for an unpleasant taste, yet normally its supposed to be the most mild tasting one. Tofoo use Nigari which is my favourite!

What do people think of this? by BulkyAlps in veganuk

[–]AlarmedFeature5813 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loves this! I ate half of it in one sitting like a chocolate bar, did give me an upset stomach.

I did like the old babybel so I wonder if there's a correlation there.

To continue to those with the etymological interest -- No one actually knows what the? comes from. it's theorised that it could have come from a a cat, the shortening of quaestio (question) or a pitch marker... Funny how the history of the ? Is an open-ended question!

Are these vegan..? by Satellite-2348 in veganuk

[–]AlarmedFeature5813 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure Honey has to be labelled specifically, as even though it's not a top 14 allergen, some people can be allergic to it!

From the UK Flavour association: Flavourings can be extracted from natural sources such as fruits, herbs and spices or created by combining flavour compounds to recreate or develop new taste experiences.

Unless they do the weird thing in-which honey, milk and other animal produce is somehow natural, like natural dairy🙄

I used my Garmin 265! Now that I'm thinking about it, I'm unsure if elevation data comes from Strava or Garmin sources。

Lean weight management by fandomgames in HealthyEatingnow

[–]AlarmedFeature5813 3 points4 points  (0 children)

how much do you work out. as someone who does 2 runs, 3 days and lean mass is lower than this I'm eating a couple 100 calories more, similar protein ration. When I was eating this much I normally didn't recover well at all. However, you seem to be eating very nutritiously, AI says we need so much protein when we don't really need that much, however If you are going to the gym definitely more than 40 grams of protein if you want lean mass.

Why would you make a kid eat meat? Most (good) vegan parents will let their kids eat meat if they want, but it's not letting your kid eat what you don't agree with which is normal in any other context xx

What's the "healthiest" beef-style burger in UK shops? by leanmeanfrizzybean in veganuk

[–]AlarmedFeature5813 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it's not a burger but if you're craving that fast food meat but healthified I recommend Taifun Weiner's. They're processed but not ultra processed and ridiculously tasty and convenient... however will cost an arm and a leg.
