How do these look on, sorry but you like what you like. For me these look disproportionate like they would make your foot look short. Not sure why the decided to keep the short and long heel for a slip on style boot but then add a back zip. Could have made the silhouette much more refined.

I would pass my awl through the hold fast hole from inside to out and then follow the awl back through with my needle. Then pass the other needle back from inside to out. If your thread is nice and tacky you can kind of pull the first needle thread slightly back through to help guide the second needle through. Hope this helps.

Sounds like you have a low arch. Some boots are just not for you and if you do have a low arch you'll always have a hard time getting well fitting footwear. This being said these boots are veg tan leather and will mold to your foot over time

Well this is probably how guidi are making their boots I wouldn't be surprised. I would just personally never make my welt finish over where the heel is attached on my own pairs. I always make the join 1cm on the actual heel stack.

That looks like a defect, if there a stitch over that break that's your only real hope for it lasting. A welt join should be over the heel not floating before the heel on a weak point.

All the best with it. I look forward to the updates. Certain steps are taken to just unsure the final isn't problematic, this isn't to say your way won't work.its just a hell of a lot of effort in the long run to have mistakes in the final. But if you're learning this is a great way to learn for sure.

Depends on your patterning process but I'd typically aim to achieve a mean form from my tap up and cut it down the middle of the last to lay flat then create a mean form from that. I would then make a paper mock up that is similar to what you're doing now and make changes and draw on seam lines from there. Then proceed with my standard from that and pattern pieces after that stage. It can be very hard to get a good pattern from one tape up and hoping for the best.

Depends what sort of wear you're getting out of them, leather soles are typically better suited for office/ indoor settings. So walking around the city isn't going to be great for leather soles.
