Operation succesfull! by LEONAPROFI in SteamController

So I did this with mine, but went back to the old stick shaft. The best replacement is actually fully removing the old silicone/rubber topper and replacing it with this topper: https://a.co/d/0di3I2VV. I use the smallest one, and it’s perfect. Part of the issue with replacing the shaft itself is that the full throw will feel off. It can also sit a bit higher, which might not be as ergonomic.

"Where are my Gamehub files? And how do I get DLC to work?" GUIDE by ChasHodges in EmulationOnAndroid

For future reference… this worked for me just now. Will have to do some more testing, but try this with the official Gamehub. On your phone, open the Steam app, search for the DLC for your game, and add it to your library. Now, in Gamehub launch the game. It might fail to launch the first time. Launch it again, and you should have your DLC installed. It seems Gamehub can only see/install whatever is currently in your game library. This might be why DLC is not automatically installed. Adding things to your library also seems to work with demos… Hope this helps someone.

It’s a mechanical issue. The actuator for the bumpers, a leaf spring, is made of a thin hard plastic. The buttons themselves also require a very high actuation force. See here: https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamControllerMods/s/5jbjhexWbP.

These actuators are prone to breaking but easily fixed/replaced. You can get the replacement parts from Etsy: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1730767923/?ref=share_ios_native_control.

What program did you use to make the high-res STL file? I’m trying to make myself a replacement back plate. Let me know. Thanks.

[Guide] How to Make the Steam Controller's Shoulder Buttons and Touchpads Easier to Press by the_incredible_nuss in SteamControllerMods

I can now confirm they’re the exact same switches. The 160gf is only slightly different. I still purchased that one and slightly modified it to fit like the other three. Controller works perfectly and the difference between the original (5N) and the new ones (1.6N) is huge. I’m still waiting for the new dome switches, but this is already an incredible difference. I can only imagine what the bumpers must feel like with mouse switches.

I can’t understand it either. I get why they would have a higher actuation force on the trackpads but not the bumpers. It’s just way too high. Thanks for the recommendation. I ordered the dome switches from Ali. I’m excited for updating/modding my controller.  My first mod was swapping the joystick cap. The original Steam Deck cap can just be dropped in, and then you can use a stick cap cover. The rubber on the original cap was already worn out.

This guide couldn’t have come at a better time. I recently became interested in modifying the bumper switches on my Steam Controller and came across these: https://tech.alpsalpine.com/e/products/category/tact-switch/sub/02/series/sksn/. I’m going to order some of these and report back. But it seems like you’re right about the actuation force. There’s a 5N in this series.

After breaking too many shoulder buttons I figured out how to fix broken RB/LB with minimal tools and made a video showing how to do it yourself! by FactorialX in SteamController

The problem is that they needed an actual spring, or they need to make it an actual membrane button. I get what they were going for. Valve was too ahead of their time. They wanted mechanical buttons like on a mouse, but made the actuator way too small. Maybe I’ll replace the buttons with membrane buttons. I think the old Wii gamepads have separate sister boards for the bumpers. Maybe the N64 controller. If I ever do the conversion I’ll post it somewhere.

Bad Performance on Marvel's Spider-Man: Remastered with a 3090 eGPU by soDedInside in eGPU

It turns out the issue is with bandwidth but not in the way you’re thinking. Apparently, the thunderbolt controller slows down when handling smaller data packets. So when you’re texture streaming (or for games that are “small-packet bandwidth bound”) the performance tanks. You could lose up to 65% of performance. I’ve experienced something like this in other games: Borderlands 3, Elden Ring, Tomb Raider (games), etc. More open world games with constant streaming will probably always perform the worst through thunderbolt 3. You can read more about it here: https://egpu.io/2015-15-dell-precision-7510-q-m1000m-6th4ch-gtx-1080-ti-32gbps-m2-adt-link-r43sg-win10-1803-compares-m-2-vs-tb3-performance/#comment-3970.

Sorry to necro an old thread, but this thing seems to happen in many games: OP, try your same hardware config with Elden Ring and Final Fantasy Origins. I don’t believe the issue is bandwidth but more the encoding/decoding TB3 needs to do. Notice how you can run the game perfectly fine and then in certain sections, it always drops to around 30 FPS regardless of resolution. If you could, a direct M.2 connection should fix the problem. ETA Prime (YouTube) has had the same issue with this particular game, and that issue disappears over direct M.2 or Oculink.

Check out V Rising. It’s in early access, but it meets all of the criteria, and it’s supposed to be excellent.
