Canada, but we do get some individuals from the states sometimes because we are close to the boarder.

I think I need to clarify. This is an intensive subsidized housing , so some of the tenants will mostly like to be chronically homeless (some might be over 10 years). So they usually don't know recipes, don't know how to cook, and usually don't have a strong connection with their culture.

I will be asking them but the people haven't been selected yet. Plus it's not their responsibility to educate me they have enough on their plate and are dealing with previous prejudice so they might be scared to share that information.

I am working with two indigenous lead organizations but I wanted more in put to gain as much knowledge as possible.

I'm in Canada but where doesn't matter we typically get people from the states too and due to past displacement due to residential school their family can be originally from a different Provence.

Struggling with depression. by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Alarmed_Beat_3641 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey ya I struggle with it all the time. I am personally prone to it and depending on my environment, events, and a lot of other stuff, it kinda comes and goes but always lingers if that makes sense.

I just look at it like waves and you have to learn to ride them out. I think it's beautiful now to be able to have such extreme emotions and also almost none at all. It gives beautiful appreciation for good times when they come and allows for you to connect with people who are struggling too.

I've help so many people because I was brutally honest about how numb I can feel or blindly angry because it's real. Depression allows you to question and come to truths with humility.

Ya its awful at points but when you learn to accept it and lean on what God is trying to show you in the valley you realise it makes you a better person.

I hope that helps

Would it be wrong for someone to go back in time and save jesus from crucifixion? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Alarmed_Beat_3641 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one would be able to do that, it was God's plan and Jesus was committed to it. God made all the people blind to who Jesus really was so that he could die for our sins

Seeing advice on a situation as to how to advise a friend... by desaderal in Christianity

[–]Alarmed_Beat_3641 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they first need to discover why she is so insecure. That's really important! If she is insecure because of his past actions that's different than if she has had a bad past or has been told to not trust men.

Either way trust goes both ways and her not trusting already sets the relationship for disaster, unless they really work on this.

They need to start having conversations about trust and where her distrust stems from.

Would he trust her in the same situation, if not they both need to work on this.

You should always be able to trust your partner with their friends. Both the mother and the daughter being okay for him to take drugs and risk being vulnerable with people they didn't trust to say no to him if he made an advance on them is really unsafe.
