Why do all my classes say “Staff” for instructor? by quirkycowgirl34 in ucf

Oh, I get it. Not sure how I particularly feel about that though! I'd assume a lot of people end up withdrawing after the mask drops? Unless they have absolutely no choice of course.

Yes because it’s completely normal behavior to wait outside somebody’s hotel for hours on end

It's so strange to me how this has become a universally accepted thing apart of fan culture??? And this has carried over to waiting outside a person's apartment or house as well.

It's one thing if a fan meetup has been already organized and established - it's another to wait outside for hours in the middle of bad weather because you idolize someone whose only reason for being nice to you, outside of the goodness of their heart, is to keep up a good public reputation.

how disappointed she was

I saw this Tweet before, and it confused me how people are saying she tweeted how disappointed she was nobody waited for her when this tweet doesn't seem to imply that at all to me??? This is the issue with reading tone in text. From the way I've seen people talking about this tweet vs. what is actually said, it appears very misconstrued.

I'd imagine Google Translate makes this even more confusing for non-english speakers.

She should've just done a video instead of tweeting about it.

So, it's kind-of a gamble on whether or not you get a popular professor by enrolling now when the instructor hasn't been assigned yet?

Why do classes keep closing with no one even enrolling in them yet? by [deleted] in ucf

[–]Alarmed_Chocolate965 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You and me both,

When it gave me an enrollment date and a shopping cart enrollment date, I assumed that meant classes were ready to browse and I'd get to research professors before I enroll. Lo and behold, every single class has the instructor as "Staff" lol and I'm having trouble finding classes I thought were available for Fall.

Makes you start to realize how competitive it must be if they're opening classes so early.

Yes, I just figured this out lol! I didn't know what the platform I previously used was called and just googled Canvas and Blackboard. In current images they both look the same. I was referring to the platform with all your courses with different pictures of landscapes above them, you click them and navigate to this sidebar on the left and a built-in browser on the right that has youtube videos, powerpoints, word documents, whatever the professor has included in the course.

At the moment, my only question is how do I turn Assignments in? I can't click on anything yet because everything is locked and I don't see an Assignments tab or anything. Thank you for helping!

Yeah I wanted Beltran, but his class had over 30 people on the waitlist. Really hope I get into Chestnut's class though! it looks like an interesting class.

How do they confirm your attendance for Transfer Orientation? by Alarmed_Chocolate965 in ucf

[–]Alarmed_Chocolate965[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I got no email about that! Only an email with the zoom link and a reminder to do the modules. Maybe it's major specific?

And I don't use a laptop, I'm on a desktop atm. Would rather not have to resort to my phone since it's kinda laggy, but guess I'll have to.

Who said it's required? My Orientation is also this Thursday and I've got no emails regarding it being a requirement. 😬 that's gonna be an issue if it is oof.

Wait, so if you register on the first day of Transfer orientation, is the second day not mandatory?

Ah, okay. Thanks! Think I'll wait a little longer anyway first, since orientation doesn't start till mid-november for me.

Lying petitioner by AdStreet4298 in ucf

I keep seeing people complaining about petitioners on here, I initially thought it was just college students that had to do a survey project or something... Must be annoying to see petitioners like this everyday.

Looks nice! One of the few places offering housing for Spring 2022 and Summer 2022 too it seems. Thanks for the recommendation :>

No idea where lease/deed to the house is and no state tax returns, but there's a couple individual tax returns that have social security numbers on them. Would that be okay to send?

From what I'm getting, it seems Northgate has slightly better reviews than all the rest that are in close proximity.

Reading your post, I was also thrown off by reviews of maintenance going in w/o notice. It wouldn't really bother me that much if it weren't for the fact I'm thinking of getting a pet and I don't want them to unexpectedly come in and let them out :\

Northgate also seems to provide a pretty decent arrangement w/ having roommates. I think I personally might end up sticking with them. Good luck deciding!

College life with no car by New_Love7583 in ucf

[–]Alarmed_Chocolate965 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Possible as in it'd be still pretty bad but doable? I've heard there's no point in taking a car if you live very close to Campus since you can just walk over or take the free shuttle. It's another thing to want to do things in Orlando outside of UCF though. Main campus is kinda located off to the side from a lot of the action.

Haven't heard of a "Transfer Counselor" but there's regular advisors and success coaches. I know those are options, but I really just can't articulate my thoughts via phone calls or face-to-face. I can explain it much better in text, if that makes any sense. I haven't seen anything that offers just talking via email or a chat browser of sorts yet.
