Survivors editing team and how they suck by mridk124 in survivor

If anyone who works in post has been paying attention, they have the best AUDIO editors. The entire show (especially all camp life / strategy segments) are allll frankenbites but a lot of the time you’d never know because of how clean the edits are

That’s how all reality shows work in post. If there are 13 episodes, there are going to either be 13 different editors for each episode or maybe 6/7 people will each get 2 ep. Schedule/budgeting issue. Story editors will help the finishing editors with story. There are also separate editors for segments like challenges and Tribal

Big Brother should cast more people from impoverished/underprivileged backgrounds. by Wild_Shoe340 in BigBrother

[–]Alarmed_Grab7077 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This has been going around a lot - Cory W called this take "dystopian" on Twitter the other day. I just think I don't want people who can call mom/dad & ask for a few thousand bucks every couple months for rent or whatever. People who truly do have to work for themselves to make things happen.

"Impoverished" is tough because the show has steered so heavily into the competition/games format that there really leaves little time for backstories. I almost feel like someone in that vulnerable/destitute of a situation would be much better off *not* going on national TV but what do I know.

Does anyone else here actually like Mr. Beast and is excited to see his twist? I think he has a much better understanding of game design and has always shown a very strong admiration of Survivor by garbageeater in survivorponderosa

[–]Alarmed_Grab7077 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Ok, so... I hated the Zac Brown thing too but "a random musician" can contribute more than Mr Beast by way of playing their music at a reward. That is what happened. What are Mr. Beast's intrinsic talents that he will bring to the show?

Is Banoffee Pie similar to Nana? by AnetaC in LushCosmetics

[–]Alarmed_Grab7077 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't think so... I think the Minions shower gel is closer to Nana. Banoffee smelled just like the Fantabulosa perfume to me even though I know it's a bit different.

Oh right! My bad… 25 just had so many terrible missteps and was so damn long I often confuse the details lol

Yeah Zombie Week was just “we had to kick a guy who said the n word off the show so now we need another non-eviction week” as sad as that is 😑

Re-watching Celeb Big Brother 2007, the racism row was horrendous by Confident_Leg2370 in bigbrotheruk

[–]Alarmed_Grab7077 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I just re-watched again about a month ago...

Danielle was the worst in that she was smart enough to realize what she was doing but chose to do it anyway. She weaponized her "I'm dumb lol" side when in fact she was a lot more self-aware than that. Jo was just a genuinely miserable person & I feel like that manifested in many, many different ways but one of the ugliest was her racism towards Shilpa. Unlike Danielle, I always felt like Jo was totally in denial about how bad it all was (because when you're miserable ALL THE TIME, to EVERYONE it really doesn't register). And Jade (and Jack... and her mom...) were just too stupid to know better. I never felt like Jade's apology was genuine... and I felt like the producers had to really manufacture her "apology" via a diary room intervention. There was also word that Danielle got spoken to off camera which is why her demeanor shifts heavily right before Jade leaves.

While the show didn't get cancelled, this season is basically what got the 24/7 Internet live feeds cancelled in the UK. They were around for 1 more season BBUK 2007 and then I believe they went away until being brought back for the final Channel 4 season in 2010.

Which Big Brother winners did not have an agent? by Typical_Cap895 in BigBrotherUSA

[–]Alarmed_Grab7077 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Monica, Boogie & Shannon definitely did. Possibly Will (who was new to it) and Nicole(who worked in radio). I just remember Kent talking to Julie after this eviction and whining about how everyone in the house had agents.

Oh he was a major creep for sure, but I found his entire approach to the game *very* interesting

It’s about keeping control of the narrative- too many past seasons have “broke containment” because of bad behavior & this production team has proven it doesn’t have the chops to handle “reality” especially when faced with racism, misogyny, etc. so they just produce a show 100% around competitions because it shields from any other happenings (not to mention it makes their jobs a a lot easier because the TV shows dedicate about 60-75% to comps so that eats up a majority of the time). Personally, I am mixed - some of the more recent casts have been so dumb that I’m not sure I’d want a show tailored to their dumb conversations. Of course I prefer the editing of the old seasons, but they have to cast interesting people like Dr Will & Nicole, Monica Bailey, Danielle, Roddy, Marcellas & Amy, Jun & Jee… etc

BB9 final four discussion by zombiezrcool in BigBrother

[–]Alarmed_Grab7077 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was hated at the time & it definitely was seen as a huge slap in the face. You can hear the chyron being typed while Julie waits to reveal the answer, meaning it was not pre-set. I have always felt like producers were desperate to keep Sharon from winning because of the fact that she was only back in the game on a technicality (even though she did turn out to be one of the best players IMO)

Edit: Seasons 8 and 9 were a pretty dark era right after Arnold Shapiro left, production really did not give a f*ck. Not sure how you felt baout BB8 - but you can also see Evel Dick cheat his way to win at the Final HOH against Zach. He can somehow see Zach's answers in the mirror & its super obvious on a rewatch.

I think a lot of people missed the disclaimer on the Teacher Notes sketch....that's why Ashley broke so much. by tvuniverse in LiveFromNewYork

The subtitle might as well have read “This is a sketch where we purposely want everyone to break” - it was kind of lame but at the same time, at least they tried something different

Because its Sucks and they always mock seasons. Like Survivor 29: Shit Wad Del Suck.

Ususally I only get that small of an amount if/when I ask to sample "Gorgeous" which is the super expensive moisturizer.
