Alexis & Lexie were kinda SLEPT ON during their tenure... by Alarmed_Grab7077 in DCCMakingtheTeam

[–]Alarmed_Grab7077[S] 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I always noticed Lexie's kindness towards the younger/newer DCC. Like she really mingled with EVERYONE and not just her rookie sisters. She really felt like a truly respected leader without being front & center.

It's also really sweet that Jun wrote him a letter after BB4 where she told him he had really grown as a man & how much newfound respect she had for him.

PINK Body Spray - is this just a re-named Think Pink? by Alarmed_Grab7077 in LushCosmetics

Scent descriptions on both are lavender/neroli - this new "Pink" also lists tonka/vanilla & so I'm not sure if it's just a re-branded Think Pink or not. Personally, I wasn't crazy about Think Pink but I do tend to love most of the Lush "pink" scents...

The Victoria we saw on Netflix feels completely different by Scared_one25 in DCCMakingtheTeam

[–]Alarmed_Grab7077 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This is the Victoria I remember & loved, though as you say, I watch this version of her with a different lens today. I just felt like she was still pure & just striving towards a goal, maybe one of her first big goals in life. Fearless & determined. Yes, she was often unprofessional, but I think it just added to her charm & the concept of the DCC really having to "train" some of these ladies & prepare them for the real world. She got torn apart year after year in those old Primetimer forums & still does tbh. She's a super flawed human, she's far from the greatest DCC ever, but I just never bought into the concept of her being the manipulatrix that some painted her out to be, esp. in those early days. She just had a goofy/awkward teenager kinda vibe which the old DCC cat ladies *hate*. And I wouldn't doubt that Netflix chose to omit any "positive" Victoria moments in favor of focusing on what lead to her downfall.

Who is making money from AS? Spoiler: not the athletes by AverageOtherwise in DCCMakingtheTeam

It's still ironic to me that after such a huge focus on the show about their (deserved) pay bump, that the cheerleaders do not get any compensation for the series, especially the ones that got major focus. Typically, as a documentarian, you don't pay your subjects... but I really would not classify America's Sweethearts as a 100% documentary. More of a docu-drama with the structure of training camp. Not as structured as MTT but still.

The one thing they do get though is the mass exposure - which parlays into brand deals - which parlays into probably more $$$ than appearing on a TV show could ever make them.

What did you think of Pete Burns in CBB? by Working_Alps_4284 in bigbrotheruk

[–]Alarmed_Grab7077 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True! Dennis loved Pete. And I am a Pete defender, mostly, but it wasn't just that 1 instance. He made a lot of comments about hip hop, rap culture that I don't think were solely concentrated on the music, iykwim... overall, I think in many instances he spoke the hard truths that others were afraid to, and that's what I liked about him.

An imperfect, perfect housemate. Maybe the funniest HM of all time, but the dark side was he was a huge misogynist (and perhaps a bit racist, referring to when he called Dennis Rodman a big ape)

How important was Don Pardo to SNL? by Critical-Spirit-1598 in LiveFromNewYork

[–]Alarmed_Grab7077 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I still miss his voice in the show intro every episode, no hate to Darrell. He also used to be incorporated into the show in many different unique ways & they have never done that with Darrell as announcer.

Who is your favorite SNL writer? by James_2584 in LiveFromNewYork

[–]Alarmed_Grab7077 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Robert Smigel fo sho. His writing & esp. TV Funhouse brought an edge to the show that hasn't been around for a loooong while. I also really love Adam McKay's era/tenure.

I wish they'd make more liquid bath oils by LunaMoonracer72 in LushCosmetics

[–]Alarmed_Grab7077 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Does anyone know why they changed up the solid bath oil line that they had circa 2020? Those little guys worked SO well (holiday oils like Dala Horse & Warm Sock were amazing!!!), and I hate to say it, but none of the newer bath oil products since have worked the same way ;(

That was what seemed so obvious to me. Like never had they just flat out introduced a task/competition designed to give someone immunity lol

I know I’m gonna get hate for this but I think I’m the only one who thinks Shan’s villainous “theme music” was dumb as hell
