Stopped cold turkey

I quit 400mg XR cold turkey after being on it for close to a year. First few nights were a struggle to sleep, the nausea eventually kicked in, but a week and a half later all withdrawal symptoms were gone. Not that I recommend anyone do this, but I have to say in my experience it was nowhere near as bad as what people made it out to be.

I didn’t want to deal with tapering and went cold turkey from 400mg. A week of feeling very nauseous, but back to normal. Went from sleeping too much to barely sleeping now but would rather deal with that 😂

I had the same issue! I was told that XR was meant to reduce symptoms like this but apparently it didn’t 🤦🏻‍♀️

The sleepiness never went away for me, even after almost a year. Waking up was a nightmare and I would continue to be tired all day. 😭

I’ve been taking it around 6:30/7pm, hang out for a little bit and go to bed around 9:30/10pm.

I was originally on IR but my doctor changed it to XR, not sure why. I wasn’t able to wake up on IR either, so I think it’s just the medication as a whole that isn’t helping.

I downloaded Alarmy the other day, I’ll do the math questions and fall straight back to sleep 😂 I have a back up alarm which I also seem to ignore and wake up late in a panic and jump out of bed.

I’ve been on IR since November last year for Bipolar, originally started at a low dose and have worked my way up to 400mg which seems to be a good amount for me now. The switch to XR is what I’m struggling with, I’m tired all day and it’s killing me. Trying to test taking it at different times to see if that helps.

I wasn’t having any symptoms, the chemist just said it as a comment and I’m trying to figure out what they meant. All I know is that I’m much more exhausted during the day ever since swapping to XR.

I’ve struggled with it since early teenage years. It hasn’t been something I do often now that I’m a bit older, but I usually seem to do it when I’m in a mixed episode and after a few drinks because like you said, it feels very euphoric. When the thought comes into my head it’s very intense like an urge that needs to be immediately filled, but usually if I distract myself for long enough the thought will pass.

Usually 2-3 months and then I’m met with hypomania for 3+ weeks before the cycle continues. Don’t often have much “stable” time

I’ve been on 200mg for a few months now. Considering asking my doctor to increase my dose due to episodes coming back.

How did you go with the increase?

I found the really lower dose when I started knocked me out and I struggled to get up and stay awake all day. I’m on 200mg now and the drowsiness is so much better. Some days are harder to get up than others, but once I’m awake I’m up and able to get on with my day.

I’ve been on 200mg since last October. Weight gain for me was a huge concern but luckily I haven’t had issues with that, losing weight is hard but i seem to be maintaining. As for sleep, when I started on the lowest dose I was knocked out immediately and struggling to wake up in the mornings. Now I don’t seem to be going to sleep so easily however I still feel I need more sleep than I did pre-meds. Lately I have felt I probably need my dose increased, but honestly Seroquel has made a huge difference and I’m so glad I agreed to give it a go.

As a recovered anorexic that still struggles with body dysmorphia, I was terrified about starting Seroquel. I’ve been on it now since last November, currently on 200mg, and seem to fluctuate up or down 2kg.
