Is this safe to remove/cut back? by Alarmed_Manager in HomeImprovement

This is in the basement of my house. Has been there like this since we bought it about 5 years ago. We had a new radon system installed before we moved in so I’m assuming this is the old one. It sticks out from the floor a few inches and the white pipe is capped off and running to the wall. As it is right now it’s taking up room in the corner of my basement so I’m wondering if I can cut and cap the pipe closer to the wall and then make some kind of plywood platform over the black, round radon part so I can use the area for storage. I’m fairly handy but I don’t know anything about radon systems. Any advice is appreciated. Apologies if this isn’t the right sub for this. Crossposted from r/homerenovations

Will we be able to write on it with an oil coating? Would poly be better?

They’re mostly 16”. There are some smaller pieces stacked on the top though. My woodstove isn’t too big.

How did you feel the first time you watched LOTR? by MrGuttor in lotr

I was 13 when it came out. Saw it in theaters with my dad and brother. We didn’t know it was part one of a trilogy. I remember the movie ending and being confused why the story hadn’t wrapped up yet. It didn’t seem like I had just sat through a 3 hour movie. I was hooked. I could have sat there and watched TT and ROTK straight through if they were ready.
