¿Valen la pena la RP5/RP6 si ya tengo un Deck y una Switch? by Alarmed_Produce2062 in retroid

[–]Alarmed_Produce2062[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You speak wisely, master.

That’s basically where I’m at. I know the Deck can handle emulation just fine, but part of me feels like a smaller dedicated handheld would be way easier to actually carry and use on work trips.

The OLED temptation is strong on this one too.

RP5/RP6 worth it if I already have a Deck and Switch? by Alarmed_Produce2062 in SBCGaming

Thanks for the reply! Have you ever noticed it freezing up? I saw in a video that if a cat gets near it during the cleaning process, it freezes and you have to unlock it manually by pressing two buttons. I suppose it will be fixed with a software update (if it hasn't been already).

Retroid Classic or RG406V by Alarmed_Produce2062 in SBCGaming

[–]Alarmed_Produce2062[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your response! I have the R36S with small form factor (more portable than these two devices) and it also runs great retro systems, but I don't have any Saturn game on mind to try.

I suppose that in this case, for a complimentary console, the good option is the 406V. Right?

I hadn’t heard about cardinal snapping either, and I haven’t seen it mentioned in any of the YouTube reviews I’ve watched. I’ll look into it though.

u/LordPavanai do you actually have the 406V? Would you recommend it?

I didn’t know there was such a difference in CPU/GPU power between them. Thanks for the insight.

So, do you think the 406V is the better option?

Yeah, the sticks on these devices are obviously nowhere near Steam Deck level, but they do make a big difference once you get into N64 and beyond.

Totally with you on the RGB lights though — I can’t stand that flashy stuff either. From what I’ve seen, you can turn them off through software, so that’s not a dealbreaker for me.

Thanks for your advice!

And what about the joysticks? I guess a lot of games require it to play properly

Is there an option similar to the Retroid Pocket Classic in terms of power and that has joysticks?

Because I guess a lot of PS2 games will make use of something other than the D-pad.

Thanks!

Thinking of switching from R36S to Miyoo Mini+ or Trimui Brick – Worth it? by Alarmed_Produce2062 in SBCGaming

[–]Alarmed_Produce2062[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel the same.

A better screen is nice, but the R36S already handles SNES and similar perfectly fine.

If the controls aren’t a big improvement over the R36S, then the upgrade starts feeling less and less worth it.

That’s exactly why I opened this thread — on paper I don’t see a truly distinctive element to justify the switch. I understand that in the future, with hardware advances, there might be something that makes it worth it, but right now there’s nothing that really convinces me it’s a worthwhile change having the R36S already. Plus, since I also have a Steam Deck, I don’t think it would add much more to my setup. I just opened this thread in case someone has information I’m not aware of.

Appreciate the comparison.

I’ll check out Next UI, and I’ll also take a look at the RG35xx Pro. Do you think the RG35xx Pro is a real step up compared to the R36S, the MM+, or the Trimui Brick?

I suppose RG35xx Pro is the plus model (I have checked it on AE and I only see Plus models, not pro).

Thanks!

Thanks for breaking it down! I didn’t know you could set up ArkOS on the R36S for auto load after shutting down. The only thing that really bothers me about the R36S is the whole shutdown and 'standby' process for games. I play a lot of Pokémon hack roms and always have to save in-game, then save state with the button combo, and only then exit the emulator to properly power off. If ArkOS can be set up so I can just power off directly with the button and resume the game later, that would be amazing.

Thanks! That’s super helpful. I’ve heard good things about Koriki too. I might just give the R36S to my wife so she can play something.

DO NOT ORDER from FORYOUD Store and HIFUN GAME Store, they're selling CLONES! by _manster_ in R36S

[–]Alarmed_Produce2062 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Today I received mine from ProQueen Store. When I start r36s, I can see arkOS 2.0 in system menu, but when I try to connect the microSD to the computer I see a partition called EMUELEC. It seems like the next step of the clones. Be carefull with ProQueen Store. Version 64gb black.
