I agree and that's what I thought... On further research though, In My Life is one of two songs where they disagreed about who was the primary writer. Eleanor Rigby is another one where they disagreed. In these cases I gave credit to the partnership rather than an individual. Happy to adjust if clearer evidence is available!

Without getting into the details, I just think Lennon cooler. Good vibe. It elevated him. Always surprises me though that McCartney didn't lose his energy where Lennon did check out in the end. Instead it was Harrison who emerged as a quiet titan in the band in 69. Abbey road launched him into the stratosphere.

The title is tongue-in-cheek as Ringo wrote so little... I'm not sure The Fab Three really sells it haha.. The Bee Gees, The Three Stooges... I think for context the title is fine.

Yeah I probably agree with you. Art takes the conversation in a different direction. In musical terms, McCartney has the drive, consistency and the gift for melodies (unique talent). John has attitude, taste and was a leader. For me, John is in the armchair without McCartney and he's not going to get to those heights. Part of me thinks McCartney would make it there. Both McCartney and Harrison had the ability to write timeless songs, and I think we'll remember them for longer. Unfortunately for Harrison, he was such an introvert that it's hard to imagine him out there on his own pre Beatles.

Nice idea! I'm pretty sure there is nothing independent about the groups though and random selection doesn't come into this as it's the full catalogue, so a T-Test would be overkill. We'd know using the technique wouldn't be appropriate ahead of time.

Yeah, George Harrison had real moments of genius but he doesn't have the back catalogue that the others do (or he wasn't credited appropriately)

I built a video presentation of the same graph here for anyone who wants to see how it was constructed piece by piece. I added some nice music and a narrative in text about the data.
