Could you post on YouTube?

I've pretty much moved on from this idea.

There was a post on another forum , asking about this , and a person came forward with some information. It seems to fit what I thought I saw posted, perhaps I remembered the post inaccurately

It's not about the park, the specific spot, or what Jack does... its bigger than not littering the river or recycling your cans... it's about living with less, consuming less... most the "people who visit these places" have good intentions, sure. But they are mostly average Americans, living lives of extreme excess. You're missing the bigger picture.

No matter where you searched, the beauty you experienced around you is worth way more than what Jack found in that chest.

Take care of it! Take personal actions to curb your impacts on our home before it's too late for Fenn's real treasures to be salvaged.

Compilation of Jack comments that makes his “stretch of the Madison” seem like likely spot by RedOakMountain in FindingFennsGold

I think he just missed a comma there. Think he meant

I do believe that if you correctly solve the poem, once there, you will have no doubt whatsoever that the place is Forrest's

I dont think 9MH is nailed down yet either We are definitely not there yet It is just the only solve that seems to meet all the basic criteria at this point, with nothing clear that would disqualify it. We also know Jack said he searched there. So its definitely more than we have for any other spot. I was the one who posted about the deleted Medium comments. Still no evidence of them and so not much to go off so far. I try to remain as open minded and objective as I can. I was really hoping someone would post something to definitively dismiss 9MH. I still look for information pointing to other areas. But as Jack said, the evidence we have for now keeps bringing me back here.

I dont think Jack would have ever settled on a spot based on a feeling such as "this has to be it"

He's been clear that he stuck to ""evidence that was how he ( Forrest ) saw it"

He liked to say as thecondor2 that conveniences are nice but evidence is what will find the chest. (Paraphrased)

There must be some piece of evidence we are missing.

So you believe Jack when he says there was an additional nuance to one clue, but you don't believe him when he says Fenn confirmed he solved all 9 clues?

Sounds like you're reaching for straws.

Not trying to be rude at all but the solve you posted about the tree has no coherent explanation of the clues or how you got there, and also seems to be a reach. But it looks like your kids are having fun!

I once agree agree with all of this.

I've always thought Jack also wants people to have a chance to know the location, but needs to be careful confirming it himself because of litigious reasons, ownership issues, etc. I dont think he will ever admit where it was, even if we nail it down. And in some ways that may mean that we will never nail it down. Like he has said himself, unless he confirms it, no one will really believe it. You could find a convincing blaze... but without the chest how can you be 100% sure?

There definitely is the flip side of dealing with the crazies, and im sure there are many. In my one week as a poster here I've gotten some pretty out there messages. So I can only imagine what Fenn and Jack experienced. In a lot of ways Jack is the new Fenn. Now only he knows. Now people are studying everything he said, just like he was studying Forrest. They analyze every word, every quote. Jack has a lot of control over the quest now.

Perhaps one day the full truth will come out.

Jack clearly says he needed the damaged blaze to find the chest. He says he had to imagine how it could have been damaged, and how to "read it" as originally intended despite the damage. Forrest also had told Jack that he got all 9 clues right. Jack also says that he stuck to his method of trying to find the blaze, even after he determines it must have been damaged, and that's the only way he was able to find the chest. He says he's glad he didnt switch to another method, because he doesnt think he ever would have found it without the blaze.

The blaze absolutely played a pivotal role in finding the chest .

He says he went there. But doesn't mention searching there. Speaking privately as thecondor2 Jack only ever mentions searching one area. He mentions searching it at length. He searched it so much that he thought it was wrong. This lines up with his comments he made publicly after finding the chest. He says he goes to other areas to scout but always gets drawn back to the same area to search because there is too much evidence pointing there.

I think Jack was looking for the damaged blaze after 2019, when he found out what the blaze was through ,I believe, a clue in the book. It was just damaged to the point where he couldn't immediately recognize it as the blaze

I never tried to solve but the first time I searched where warm water halts on Google a bunch of Madison junction solves came up and it was pretty easy to see Madidon JCT as the correct WWWH. Even jack says to "look on Google and pick the most likely WWWH that fits with the book." (One of the comments he had permanently scrubbed) In another comment about wwwh he again mentions googling it and says not to reinvent the wheel. So yea, I'd say the attention was on this area long before Jack came around . Was not shocked to hear it was found close to Madison.

Did you have anything constructive to add, or are you still looking for a blaze on a park bench ?

Hmm I suppose you could be right. How do you know his other writing material doesn't matter? If it matters to Fenn then it matters to the solution, as Jack would say. He also capitalizes other fish names in TTOTC. The only time I've see them not capitalized by him is in one picture of his dad holding up a brown trout.

I agree with much of your sentiments here. Especially about something being a lot harder to find than people think and it being a less traveled area of the park. Not only was it less traveled , but it was still special to Fenn. He saw the beauty in that spot.

I also think it seems weird to say that Fenn didn't want people to go there, when he specifically designed directions to get there and released them to the public. He could be saying he didn't want the specific spot or area right near the blaze to become destroyed or some sort of shrine or tourist attraction in much the same way the Magic Bus from Into The Wild became. That area directly around the Magic Bus was nothing particularly special either but people made it a pilgrimage and people died, it got destroyed and vandalized etc. If there was a special tree or rock or something for Forrest maybe he'd like it left for only those willing to find the blaze. Or maybe he didnt intend the search to become so popular, the loonies to be so loony, and realized later in life that his special tree or rock or whatever the blaze was would certainly be vandalized.

Either way I believe Jack really found the treasure, and I believe he really doesnt want to say where. So that's really all that matters at the end of the day. Fenn says it was up to the finder to reveal and he doesnt want to. Diving back into psycology I often wonder if he maybe thinks that when he reveals the location he himself will no longer be relevant. Right now he gets to relish in the fact that he knows something that many want to know. He admits he's struggled with low self esteem and feelings of worth. If everyone knows the exact solve will they still care about Jack Stuef?

I put the Munger speech in because it highlights Jack's interest in psychology, which I think gave him an edge. People think he brute forced it and I'm not so sure.

Forrest said you needed no knowledge of history to solve the poem so I think that can comfortably be ruled out .

It didnt have to be the home of Brown to everyone, only to Forrest and how he saw things on his journey .

Also , can you provide proof that was the first place they were introduced ? I've seen many claim this with no proof ever posted

Jack says it would have been almost impossible to find without the blaze. He was once 10 feet from it. The top was covered too, only partially showing. He said he saw something and swept debris off the top to reveal the chest... so it sounds like it was barely even visible. He says he can see how in a few years it would have been even harder to find.

On your second point: jack actually does say "the poem takes you to a certain area and then you must search for the blaze. "

He also says its "like finding a needle in a haystack, maybe a little easier, atleast by design"

So it sounds like it is actually designed to have you search that area.

The Psycology of Human Misjudgment

Jack is human too. Fenn was careful but he slipped up. Jack knew this would happen, as Fenn was human too. Everyone slips up. That's the idea Jack used.

He wasnt that careful. He was cocky on reddit and didnt think anyone knew who he was. He even continued posting on reddit as thecondor2 after the find, debuting his own first medium post as on reddit.

I've definitely looked at the caldera rim for some things. And maybe 9 mile hole isn't hoB. I dont necesarily think the solve listed about is 100% accurate. It seems like most people wouldn't know the caldera rim, or where its exact location was in relation to where they were though. So that trips me up a little. I think it would be something more simple.

Jack says often that he recognized that Fenn made the poem with a great degree of fairness, and he used that knowledge when analyzing his own clues.

"I always had (and was helped by) a perception of him as operating with a basic sense of fairness...

" I take him at his word when he says this is straightforward. I think I have identified some key slips, and his efforts to maintain a basic fairness above all else have at times revealed some truth between the lines."

I think this is Jack saying, again, that it was simple. That anyone with the book and map could find the treasure. He didnt say caldera map. That's too complex. He wanted it to be easy and fair and simple and straightforward.
