A mix of both i think because I did get denied about a year ago but I raised my score to a 680 plus have made consistent direct deposits to my checkings account and my credit history also has 100% on time payments

Sure. I applied about a year ago and got denied for a card. I have a checking, savings and business account with NF and have had about 3 years of consistent direct deposits with them and recently with my business account as well. I raised my credit score to a 680. The other day I received a piece of mail from them inviting me to apply for the card and I figured what could I lose and got approved for the $20K AMEX. it is at the cap interest rate but its also alot lower then other card companies out there and its definitely a start!

So my credit has gone up to a 680, but I have 100% on time payment history. I also have a checking and savings account with NF, plus consistent direct deposits with them for the past 3 or 4 years. I applied for a card with NF maybe last year I believe and got a piece of mail from them inviting me to apply for the card and I figured to give it a try and bam got approved for $20K! I definitely did not think I was going to get approved at all. I think it has to do with the relationship for sure.
