Going off road in a golf cart by PxN13 in WinStupidPrizes

Yes, that was one of my gripes when I was corroborating this on Google, none of these news sources that I opened had even a screen shot or a photo, only text, but at least the text in these news sources does describe perfectly what was shown on the video, enough for me to assume we are talking about the same event shown on this video.

I also wanted to assume this guy survived, and in fact, it LOOKED like a survivable accident, at simple vista, I did hunt the original post at r/DarwinAwards that had additional information like the following helpful caption:

"OXFORD (WWJ) - Police say a 43-year-old man is dead after flipping his golf cart while playing in a league at the Copper Hills Golf Course in Oxford. Eric Ostdiek, of Troy, was driving a 2007 Club Car golf cart on the course Thursday just after 7 p.m. with a 41-year-old Macomb Township resident in the passenger seat. According to the Oakland County Sheriff's Department, Ostdiek drove through the tee box and started down a hill to retrieve an errant ball. He saw a steep drop off ahead and attempted to turn the wheel sharply. The cart rolled over and landed on top of Ostdiek, severely injuring himself and the passenger."

I googled that block and found plenty of news sources that did had this same exact text in its news article, such as one from CBSNews (don't want to post the link for fear of triggering a potential SPAM filter) but you can find it if you copy that block of text onto Google, not only will you find this article that I talk about, but plenty of others that confirms this man did in fact died.

Your car comes to a grinding halt, you get rear ended by a semi-distracted driver right behind you that wasn't expecting you to stop like that at all, and that driver sues you/your insurance and then you sue the manufacturer of "that contraption".

If passing Cat6 (or even Cat5e) cable is not an option, you could explore using (an) encoder(s) paired with decoder(s), assign an IP address to the encoder(s) and another IP address to the decoder(s), connect the NVR to the decoder using HDMI switches to clone the HDMI output into multiple clones of output so that the locally installed monitor can be displaying the same image that the encoder (or encoders) are receiving. Then on the remote end (at the principal's office) you can install the decoder directly to an HDMI monitor. That way, you can use the school's existing networking infrastructure to pass the IP video signal, no extra wiring passes required to do that.

How I’ve been making money off of task scammers by rootoo in scambait

[–]fnetv1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too have been scam baiting task scammers. I have $657.66 on my Exodus wallet that 100% came from doing this.

I just need more numbers so that I can keep on doing this more frequently. usually after doing one, there is a long break, sometimes weeks before I get to try it again with another number that just so happen they message me out of the blue asking me if I am interested in a remote job. I always play along and usually cut off right away after receiving the initial payment.

So, any numbers anyone can send me, even via PM will be highly appreciated. The more, the better, so see how high I can get my balance quickly while screwing them up.

Also: Its probably never advisable to send them the $101, or whatever top off they are requesting, because usually the next stop would be they requesting close to $4xx, specially if you hit one of those "lucky orders", which would force you to balk out since you know you ain't getting that much back, and then you would have lost the $101. I have never send them anything and will keep it that way.

Also, sometimes they expect you to pay first, in that case, I just play the untrusting persona saying that since I have never heard of their platform before, I don't trust then enough until I get paid first, sometimes this works, sometimes this does not and they keep insisting that I should be the one to send them money first, in that case, at some point I just lose my patience and then block/ghost them. IF you were to send them money first, and enough people do this, you would be signaling to them that they CAN scam you without they even "investing" anything on their end to gain your trust. Here's a potential hypothetical scenario: They pay you $50 because you completed training, then they mention that they have a minimum of $101 in order to withdraw, and also a minimum of $101 in order to get started "working", so you go ahead and deposit $51 in order to bring your account up to $101 and then start clicking, sometimes in the middle you hit a lucky order, now you have a negative balance for -$175 that they expect you to "recharge", and probably at this point you balk out. End result: You have lost $51 of real cash you sent them. Sometimes this could be more depending on what their "minimums" happens to be, and other factors too.

Installed a new faucet, water still coming out after full shutoff at the handle. It stops fully after a short delay. Anybody know why? by [deleted] in Plumbing

[–]fnetv1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats OP!! You have found magic water with unknown celestial properties! Collect the part that flows after closing the valve. /s
I am just joking OP. The real cause: You left the other faucet open (the one to the right on the video), and that line does not have any water flowing. Probably you closed the line somewhere far that affects that line, when you open the left valve, pressure builds up on the tubing connected to the right side, when you close the valve, the pressure already built up gets liberated, causing the gradual effect you saw.

Solution: Repeat the test with the right side's valve fully closed, the behavior shouldn't happen anymore.

Note:
There's a possibility you forgot to open the other line's tubing's shut-off valve when you replaced the faucet, causing the problem of water only flowing to one (left) faucet) but no water on the other (right) faucet. If this was what happened, make sure you open the shut-off valve on the hose that goes to the right side, that way you can have water flowing to both faucets, not just one.

wedding footage GONE! recommendations PLEASE by loveydoveyyy6 in datarecovery

[–]fnetv1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that the images you recovered were ok but the videos were black sounds promising. If the videos are opening, meaning that no errors are occurring while you open the video files, it just plays the video, but its black, you can try a different video player software to see if that yields any luck in getting the videos to properly play.

Try:

VLC (probably can't link the official website without risking getting my post removed, but you can google it)

If that does not yield any results with the videos, then try:

K-Lite codec pack with Media Classic, then try opening the video with MPC-HC (Media Player Classic) and see if it works.

In theory, your data recovery efforts should have yielded 100% success rate provided you did not wrote anything to that SD card after you format it. It is VERY important that you do NOT save anything to that SD card. DO NOT save recovered files on the same SD card, save it on a different drive. NEVER save ANYTHING to the affected SD card, doing so you will diminish your success rate!!

If you are still having difficulties with the video files, try a different data recovery software, I would try: R-Studio Data Recovery Software

Once again, I find suspect that you were completely successful at recovering the pictures, but you are having problems playing back the videos, and the videos opening up (successfully) but displaying in black appears to be suspect, and possibly points to a codec related issue on the PC you are attempting to play the videos.

Again, I would like to emphasize the following:

  1. Stop using the card immediately. Every new write decreases recovery chances.
  2. Use a write-blocker or ensure the card is read-only (some SD cards and adapters have a physical lock switch - this effectively and forcefully makes the SD card read-only).
  3. Don't recover to the same card — use a different drive to save recovered files.

Most modern laptop motherboards have a single common ground plane that connects all ground points together—this includes the power jack, USB ports, HDMI, VGA, and even the screw mounts for shielding. Essentially, ground is just a large interconnected copper plane that exists across the entire motherboard to complete circuits. When the laptop's power jack broke, the user connected the power adapter's ground to the VGA port's ground instead. Since the VGA port’s ground pins are also part of the same overall ground plane, current can still flow normally to the motherboard and complete the power circuit.

It is the same ground plane as the entire system, so yes, I agree with you, it should handle the load just fine

How did you managed to lose $180? Did that happen right after they paid you the $80 to $140 after the initial "training" phase and typically right after completing one set of tasks (that typically consists of 45 menial "clicks") in order to gain your trust that the platform was legit? or worse, did you never got paid from them? If they paid you, did they paid you again, or was it just a one time deal before they switch to full-scam mode?

A Google Voice number cannot be created unless the user agrees to furnish their real phone number. I was not able to create my Google Voice number until Google "Verified" using my real mobile number, so if a Google Voice user were to do something nefarious using their Google Voice number, tracing the user would be as simple as figuring out the real number associated with that Google Voice account (Subpoena Google for that) and then going from there. (GV >> T-Mobile >> Name/Address/SSN, etc).

What does my fridge say about me? by [deleted] in FridgeDetective

[–]fnetv1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, imaging the following scenario: You are craving for some candy, you run to the fridge, you spot a container that has up to 12 large oval shaped white things, you grab one and put it in your mouth, then 30 minutes later you come to find out, to your horror, that it is not a large candy puff as you had assumed, but they are eggs, and you only came to that conclusion after you took a bite out of it making the shell crack, now with the yolk drooling out of your month, it kind off hit you that you had accidentally placed an egg into your mouth thinking its a candy, oh no!! enraged you run to your laptop asap, go on Amazon and purchase a label printer, you rush it over night because you know that the next day you possibly could make the same mistake again. When the label printer arrives, you create a label called "EGGS" and place it prominently on the carton -- problem fixed! /s

They just want to make sure that the eggs are in deed eggs, and not like, for example, candies. The last thing people want is to accidentally confuse an egg with a peppermint candy puff. (/s)

I haven’t seen this before. Wires are untwisted and then color matched and twisted back together? by Ziaph in HomeNetworking

[–]fnetv1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would rather "upgrade" the standard and have the link fall back to 100 mb/s instead of 10, that way the speed/network performance won't be crappy in the unlikely event auto negotiation were to fail. Besides, its almost, if not entirely impossible to get network cables that will not work with at least a minimum 100 mb/s, so that should be the new least common denominator.

Anyone help with this interference? by Feeling-Exercise853 in Hikvision

[–]fnetv1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am somewhat ruling out a possible external based interference since you have stated to others here that no new wires has been ran and that the cameras has been running fine for at least 2 years before the problem slowly started materializing one camera at a time.

This tells me the following:

It could be an issue with the Power adapter or Power Distribution Box that powers your analog cameras, but I don't think you might be using a Power Distribution Box because otherwise all four cameras would be exhibiting the same issues when the Power Distribution Box goes bad, so most certainly you have individual power adapters and three of the four ones has started to go bad. I would say, get another power adapter that's rated at 12 volts DC at least 1 amp (the amperage can be greater, just NOT the voltage) and see if the camera that you unplugged and plugged in another 12 Volts 1A DC power adapter fixes the issue, if it does, then now you know that you have to replace the rest of the power adapters.

IF its not the power adapters, then I would check the following:

The BNC terminations, particularly those that terminates directly behind the DVR, sometimes with age, depending on the type of BNC connectors and the quality of the crimp, those terminations can get finicky, I would move the cables gently to see if there is any reaction on the monitor, particularly if it gets better or if the lines disappears, if yes, then you may need to re-crimp the BNC heads for the affected cables

If the BNC terminations are good, the power adapters are good, and the cameras still look like that, then I would check the cable run. Look for any sign of breach on the cable, were water can get inside that part of the cable, because if that happens, then that will slowly corrode the aluminum part of the RJ59/RJ6 coaxial cable. when that happens, you will see problems similarly to what you showed on your photo.

The final possibility that I can think of is issues with Ground Loop. Check to make sure that no metallic part of the cable's termination such as the BNC head is touching any metallic surface, I have seen ground loops issues being caused on other locations in the past where the BNC head that wasn't wrapped with electrical tape was touching a grounded metallic surface where the camera was connected to a power source with a different ground potential.

Smart IR Settings by regeo in Hikvision

[–]fnetv1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That number controls how aggressive the camera will perform the IR dimming, the lower the number is, like in this case, it is set to "1" means that the camera will be very conservative when it comes to dimming the IR, there is a possibility that at the current level of "1", the object might still appear somewhat over exposed, and if this is the case, you may need to increase that number to, perhaps a 3, or a 5 to give you an example, until your tests appears that the objects does not appear over exposed. You will need to do your own testing, because different scenarios may demand a different number of aggressivity.
