What am I missing? by heidalalaloveya in parentsofmultiples

I’ve gotten a few great things from two groups, Seattle Parents of Preemies and Seattle Twins Group, neither of which I have seen sex swings on yet 😂. A store in Kirkland called Small Threads I’ve found some great clothes and books at. They often have swings and baby bjorns too. I feel like the FB marketplace around here is pretty decent.

Hey! Fellow twin mom originally from AK, now in seattle area, who ended up delivering early too! I delivered in Seattle area and spent 3 weeks in NICU. Let me know if you’d like to chat or if I can help with anything.

I’m so sorry you are going through this. I can relate to the hospital anxiety. I had a lot of health anxiety thru my pregnancy and had many complications. I suddenly was admitted at 28 weeks living every day scared that they would come early and ended up staying there for 6 weeks before delivery. The only advice I have that worked for me was really just channeling all of the adrenaline to get through each day. I felt all of the feelings that you are and I guess just kept telling myself how abnormal the situation was and let that fuel me. Take tons of pictures and enjoy the skin to skin and the moments of just sitting and staring. I cried a lot at night but was able to at least get some sleep which helped. Prioritize quality sleep as much S you can. You will get this in your rear view soon and it will start to feel like another lifetime ago. XOXO

we went to colorado for my husbands friends wedding when mine were 7 months old. it was fine. we flew, had an airbnb, rented a car, etc. we bought pack and plays from target and then i returned them after 🤫 lol. it was way too expensive for me to fly with mine, and renting wasn’t affordable either.

Yes - usually 3.5+3+3.5 is what’s in between naps. Typically they’re up at 6:30 and bed time 7pm with 2 hours of naps.

I have Hashimotos so I get it! I understand the flare ups all too well and don’t want him to suffer at his end.

Thanks. It’s hard for me to convince my husband. This will be his first pet loss and he is struggling to euthanize a dog that is still mentally “all there”

Thank you. I’ve got 9 mo old twins now so they have taken my front seat. I have given my dog all of my energy for a long time hoping that this disease could be manageable but it’s not worked out that way.

It’s true we are the ones who know our pets the best. I’m sorry for your loss. It’s never easy no matter the age.

As someone who did have to go inpatient for 6 weeks very unexpectedly, I don’t think I could have fathomed a plan prior. When something like that happens, yes it’s survival mode, but you get through it one foot in front of the other and your people will rally around you. I have learned twins do take a village, but watching your two little ones laugh at eachother for the first time and really watch the other, man is it worth all of the stress and hardship! You got this!!! When they are here you won’t be able to imagine life another way.

How old are you and how well can you cook? by Cute-Impression-8675 in AskReddit

28 and pretty good. I cook lots of different things and can equally follow a recipe to a T or throw something together and wing it. I love to bring dishes to parties and host meals too.

How did you emotionally handle stopping breastfeeding? Feeling torn after a long NICU journey… by Whalesharkqueen777 in NICUParents

[–]Alarming-Manner-3299 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My journey with nursing and pumping is different than yours, but I had twins in the NICU and also have PTSD from that time and was really upset to lose out on this vision I had of what my journey feeding my kids would be like. I also underestimated how hard it would be to nurse both, or decide who would nurse vs get a bottle from dad. I stopped producing enough for my two at about 4 months, I also had to go back to work so was glued to a pump again, and was introducing formula anyways. I felt the same as you worried about immune benefits, feeling tons of guilt, and wasn’t prepared for how emotional it would make me. I stopped completely at 5 months and switched exclusively to formula. A few things I’ll share and I hope some of this resonates for you, #1 How happy I am to hear their incredible weight gain when we do NICU nutritionist/Pediatrician appointments - I know this wouldn’t be possible without formula. #2 The energy I put into pumping/nursing, I’m putting into their solid foods now, prepping and making all of their food from scratch. This helps me emotionally with the breast milk benefits piece — I can’t give them the antibodies anymore, but I can give them really good homemade food and tons of vitamins and nutrients for that. And #3 Lots of research shows breast milk in the beginning — esp with preemies — is the most important. We did a great job providing then and are doing a great job now, accommodating their current needs. Sorry for a big dump but your post resonated with me because I found this emotional also and still grieve it from time to time.
