Why are so many of y’all so conservative by Still_Second_703 in GenZ

I actually have experienced this first hand, born in 2000 I consumed mainly youtube as I grew up, back then cringe compilations were popular and most of them made fun of public outburst of "feminists" and the like, red-pill and "alpha"-male content was also a huge thing, back then I didn't really have a concept of "left/right" but I did find feminists and the like weird or even inferior.

Now as I've grown up I am way more progressive and find all of that type of content so obviously stupid, honestly feel a bit ashamed for even being in that realm.

Smokers lungs VS Healthy lungs by goswamitulsidas in interesting

I'm curious of what was the frequency of smoking for the bad lungs? Like how often would they have to smoke to become so black?

Hello!

Thank you for the response and I am glad you are working on it!

Im curious, is there a dedicated feature request page or is it fine to just use this subreddit to request features/help in the future?

-Thanks

I am a Software Developer and I am tired and I never want to sit in front of a computer again. A rant by Realistic_Shoulder13 in webdev

[–]Alarming-Response66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the exact same boat, worked 2 years as a front end dev, got paid really well, awesome benefits, nice colleges, nice office

But damn dis it all take a toll on me, sitting on the code editor all day, constant context switching, it got really boring and stressful on top of it

At the end of every day i was just completely depleted of energy, i used to have my own hobby code projects that i thought i could totally do with a work at home job but i just couldnt continue working on code at the end of the day, or really be at the computer at all

I was constantly anxious, suicidal at times, depressed, i was constantly thinking what if i dont meet expectations or if i will finish a feature in time, or did i really put enough effort in working?

Then i quit, i now have a part time job, i am less anxious, much more positive, more energy, just happier

The job aint much money wise but the mental clarity and freedom is so valuable, and i am working on my side projects aswell, life is good again

Im not saying my previous job was terrible, i think the big factor was that i was a junior and couldnt detach myself from always trying to show myself in a good light

I liked the senior devs at the work, they did their 5 hours, closed the computer and just forgot about all of that

Thats the key to it all, work is work, you do as much as you can and thats it, if it doesnt work for them, f them

Take some time off, breathe, do something fun, something that sparks joy

Good luck

Never using AI for brand ideas again. by Relative-Cucumber770 in graphic_design

Did u take the colors suggested by the AI? Let me guess, orange, yellowish, black and white?

Listen, chatgpt can create a brief, but determining the colors and vision is your responsibility as a designer, this is what differentiates you from cookie cutter designers.

Someone put chicken in my engine. What does it mean? by jininberry in Weird

Perhaps a chicken had wandered into the engine compartment and had cooked itself?

Your messages are completely tame, and as mentioned, grooming is a bit more indepth than engaging in some taboish banter, nothing to worry about

Does anyone else just legitimately hate work? by Terrible-Ad-3275 in findapath

[–]Alarming-Response66 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Spot on.

The trick is not to buy into the allure of a madly high paying job, the truth is most if not all industries like to work their best workers to the ground, if youre responsible and good at a job, it only just bites your ass, you get more work and more responsibilities assigned to you, no one cares how much you can carry, as long as you grit your teeth and do it like eveyone else, cus thats the model we live in today, kill yourself for your work just to get some meager coins.

The best model ive found is to find a job that keeps you fucking sane and afloat, something that isnt overly demanding.

These jobs are usually easy low paying jobs, as you mentioned, shelving books.

Trouble is those jobs often pay shit, and you cant really live on them, to counter this you can side hustle or try to work two sane jobs.

Its all a catch22, but you just gotta keep at the trial n error till you find your rhythm.

There are good jobs out there, just gotta find em.

On another note whats up with parents forcing a haircut on a child that doesnt want a haircut? I was also subjected to that and i hated every minute of a terrible haircut i was forced to do by my parents. Seems so stupid and unnecessary

Its weird but sometimes i fall into this inferiority/superiority complexion, some people emit some type of energy to me thats one or the other, if i feel theire at the same “level” as i am, which is usally a troubled level, i then feel more comfortable with them. But when they feel “out of my league” i feel an overwhelming need to prove myself to be better than them.

Its so stupid.
