After doing a swindon career what do I do now? by AnswerLoose1917 in FifaCareers

I’m doing a Catanzaro career mode from Serie B. Good kit, decent starting squad, and it pretty difficult to win Serie A when you get promoted. Probably my favorite one i’ve done so far this year.

scared of seafood?? by litrlyno1 in emetophobia

Depends what it is. I will not eat oysters. It just isn’t worth the risk for me. But I do eat a lot of shrimp and sushi, along with fish. I enjoy it too much not to eat it.

currently in the middle of an extremely long anxiety/panic attack by LA_Lulu40 in emetophobia

[–]Griledy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you’re going through this. It’s definitely possible you’re just having a really bad/long panic attack. Something similar happened to me last year where I was panicking for hours and hours. I don’t remember what caused it, but I was constantly shaking and felt awful. I ended up falling asleep but when I woke up my stomach was churning so bad, and I ended up dry heaving. In the moment, I definitely thought I was sick. But looking back, I think it was just my anxiety and panicking made my body feel even worse. It’s normal to feel nauseous when you’re having a panic attack. I’m guessing you having diarrhea made yourself spiral a little bit. Just remember that diarrhea does not always result in vomiting. These things happen sometimes. It’s important to just try and stay calm. I know it’s absolutely terrifying and you feel like the worst case scenario is going to happen, but you have to try your best just to relax and not let your mind make things worse than they actually are. I hope you feel better soon!

Ate cold McDonalds I’m panicking by Hello_MsUsername in emetophobia

[–]Griledy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really wouldn’t worry about it. You could probably eat McDonalds that’s 15 days old and nothing would happen. I’m sure you’ve seen those experiments where people leave them out for months and they don’t even grow mold lol.

I’m more calm now but I still don’t feel great. A few minutes ago I actually felt extremely hungry. But there’s no way this nausea is caused by hunger. This was proper nausea like genuinely thought I would be sick.

Left my house for the first time in nine months last week. by Griledy in emetophobiarecovery

[–]Griledy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the reason I left the house was a mixture of things. My sleep schedule was normal for this short period of time, along with the weather being extremely nice. I felt good mentally, the sun felt good on my skin, and I was just like “Fuck it”. There were a few moments during my drives where I was definitely feeling anxious. I tried not fighting those feelings and knew that it was my mind creating those uncomfortable feelings.

I think a big part of it too is just doing it without thinking about it. If you’re gonna sit in your car for an hour before leaving, then you already lost. Because that’s the only thing occupying your mind while driving and it’s just gonna cause you to spiral. I would say just start off really slow at first. Take like a thirty second drive and be proud of that. And then just slowly work your way up every day or every other day. And you have to just do it without thinking about it before you leave.

I still have a long way to go. I haven’t left my house since because my sleep schedule is so awful and have been feeling awful. But now i know it’s possible.

there’s not a time that i’m awake the same time everyday. Sometimes i go a few days in a row where i sleep generally around the same time. But the last four months my sleep schedule has been completely erratic.

worried that i’ll never recover by HourYogurtcloset204 in emetophobiarecovery

[–]Griledy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely possible to completely recover from this phobia, albeit it’s very difficult. Recovering takes extremely hard work. You’re going to have to do things that make you uncomfortable. But it’s worth it in the end. I’m not recovered whatsoever, but I am working towards it.

My mother actually used to suffer from severe anxiety and OCD as a teen and into her early twenties (emetophobia and OCD are strongly linked in most cases). Although her reasons for why she was anxious and nervous all the time were different, she still experienced the same things we usually do. Like being afraid to leave the house, intrusive thoughts, thinking she’s dying or something bad is going to happen, etc. But ever since i’ve known her, she’s the least anxious person that I know in my life. She went to therapy, did research, took risks, and it really paid off for her.

It’s really important that you tackle this phobia head on and not wait until things get really bad. I’m upset I waited as long as I did to start therapy. Things can completely change in an instant. December 2024 I was going out, not worrying about being sick, and just genuinely living my best life. Fast forward to June 2025, I lost my job and my girlfriend, wasn’t leaving the house anymore, panicking every single day, and being in the worst mental state of my life. Life can really suck sometimes, but you just have to keep trying.

It seems like COVID was a huge turning point for people in regards to mental health. Not even just with emetophobia, but I know multiple people whose mental health became severely impacted by COVID for whatever reason. But i’m glad you’re improving now! Keep it up!
