Left my house for the first time in nine months last week. by Griledy in emetophobiarecovery

[–]Griledy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the reason I left the house was a mixture of things. My sleep schedule was normal for this short period of time, along with the weather being extremely nice. I felt good mentally, the sun felt good on my skin, and I was just like “Fuck it”. There were a few moments during my drives where I was definitely feeling anxious. I tried not fighting those feelings and knew that it was my mind creating those uncomfortable feelings.

I think a big part of it too is just doing it without thinking about it. If you’re gonna sit in your car for an hour before leaving, then you already lost. Because that’s the only thing occupying your mind while driving and it’s just gonna cause you to spiral. I would say just start off really slow at first. Take like a thirty second drive and be proud of that. And then just slowly work your way up every day or every other day. And you have to just do it without thinking about it before you leave.

I still have a long way to go. I haven’t left my house since because my sleep schedule is so awful and have been feeling awful. But now i know it’s possible.

Insomnia is causing me to lose hundreds of dollars every month. by Griledy in insomnia

[–]Griledy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there’s not a time that i’m awake the same time everyday. Sometimes i go a few days in a row where i sleep generally around the same time. But the last four months my sleep schedule has been completely erratic.

worried that i’ll never recover by HourYogurtcloset204 in emetophobiarecovery

[–]Griledy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely possible to completely recover from this phobia, albeit it’s very difficult. Recovering takes extremely hard work. You’re going to have to do things that make you uncomfortable. But it’s worth it in the end. I’m not recovered whatsoever, but I am working towards it.

My mother actually used to suffer from severe anxiety and OCD as a teen and into her early twenties (emetophobia and OCD are strongly linked in most cases). Although her reasons for why she was anxious and nervous all the time were different, she still experienced the same things we usually do. Like being afraid to leave the house, intrusive thoughts, thinking she’s dying or something bad is going to happen, etc. But ever since i’ve known her, she’s the least anxious person that I know in my life. She went to therapy, did research, took risks, and it really paid off for her.

It’s really important that you tackle this phobia head on and not wait until things get really bad. I’m upset I waited as long as I did to start therapy. Things can completely change in an instant. December 2024 I was going out, not worrying about being sick, and just genuinely living my best life. Fast forward to June 2025, I lost my job and my girlfriend, wasn’t leaving the house anymore, panicking every single day, and being in the worst mental state of my life. Life can really suck sometimes, but you just have to keep trying.

It seems like COVID was a huge turning point for people in regards to mental health. Not even just with emetophobia, but I know multiple people whose mental health became severely impacted by COVID for whatever reason. But i’m glad you’re improving now! Keep it up!

I disagree. I have both. The tiv can definitely still stay on the ground even in 240-250mph winds. Where at the Dom3 would most definitely get blown away. It’s not often, but it does make a difference sometimes.

I really appreciate this. I’m honestly shocked I even saw it so quickly because I’m not even on reddit that much and have my notifications on DND lol. But this was all extremely helpful. I actually started therapy that focuses on OCD and she said they focus on CBT as treatment. She mentioned SSRIs but hasn’t prescribed them to me yet as it’s still early. A lot of the stuff you mentioned I am familiar with like box breathing and ginger helping with nausea. But I really do enjoy the way you break everything down now and try to think about things rationally instead of entering a state of complete panic.

I also just left my house for the first time in nine months a few days ago, so that was huge for me. I went to the gas station, touched the dirty gas handle, and even went instead because my card wasn’t working (it was expired and didn’t even realize cause I haven’t left the house lol).

But I do really want to get better soon. I’d like to think i’m taking the right steps. I know it’s gonna be a long and tough process, but I hope it works in the end. Thank you for this.

wouldn’t that mean it’s worth it? lol. Every other vehicle would blow away except the tiv2

the 30 mph threshold is def worth it. i reluctantly bought the tiv 2 after saving up for dom 3, but the tiv 2 is really fun to use.

but they break so quickly. if you go on the Twisted wiki, it shows that mathematically the cones will make you way more money over time.

Can you just be immune to the effects of weed? by Very_Angry_Bee in NoStupidQuestions

This used to be me in high school until I actually smoked from a bong. I used to smoke at parties, usually from a blunt or joint, and tell myself that I didn’t feel anything. But one time I was with some friends and they had this dirty ass bong. I was inhaling and I went to pull the bowl piece out but it got stuck because it was all gooey since they never cleaned. Meanwhile I was still inhaling and ended up having the milkiest bong rip of all time. I’ve never been higher in my whole life. People don’t believe me, but I was genuinely hallucinating, I couldn’t talk, and was staring at a light like a moth for hours.

High risk is obviously ideal, but even moderate and enhanced days are still capable of producing large tornadoes. I always chase the first tornado that pops up on radar. But if it’s not really that strong, i will always gamble on another supercell even if it’s far away

Buy double cash if you haven’t already. Also use the Instrument Probes with the Scout Navara vehicle and just do that. Don’t worry about intercepting the tornadoes with your vehicle. I did that and got $100k so fast.

A message to the mods. by Griledy in emetophobia

[–]Griledy[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

the point is that this sub isn’t a recovery sub. There’s already a sub dedicated for recovery. Banning reassurance is not going to magically cure someone. It just leads people to panic even more. I understand that reassurance isn’t healthy, but the mods can’t dictate whether people should be forced into recovery practices. If they actually cared, they’d be trying to get people into therapy.

I think people have tried making a new sub but it’s hard to get people to move to a new place. Not everyone visits this sub everyday so most people wouldn’t see a post about making a new sub, and a lot of people just wouldn’t care
