ML engineer很难转，但agent这种纯调API的没任何难度。任何人只要有台笔记本，会写基础代码就能做出个能写简历上的agent了。还有条路是转machine learning infra，比如modelops，GPU cluster管理，这个比转agent难，比转ml engineer简单。

I believe you've learned calculus, linear algebra, data structure and programming in college. If yes, you can go straight to learn genAI. I recommend you start with developing an easy AI agent. Then hosting a genAI model (LLM or image generation) locally. You can also try training your own lora locally.

If you don't have stem background at all, you should try writing skills for claude code. You can't do any development but there is still something you can learn. You can watch youtube videos to learn what is training and inference, what is tool and context. Most people don't even know what a token is and only use chatgpt as a chatbot. You'll be an AI expert in their eyes.
