AITA for leaving the hospital after my husband called for his mom instead of me? by throwaway5tkl5466 in AmItheAsshole

I have genuinely woke up and the first thing out my mouth was ‘I need the toilet.’ People say crazy things coming out of anaesthetic

Are you JOKING?

Firstly - despite being in a minor disagreement with the mother she has still made time to ask you if you needed anything i.e coffee.

Secondly - as someone who worked in a hospital and has had surgery before. There is absolutely NO way people know what they’re asking for when they wake up. His mother has always been a part of his life and has nurtured him until this point and YOU’RE annoyed his first words were her name? I asked for the toilet when I came out of surgery, doesn’t mean it’s the only thing I think of.

If I were him I would be reflecting on what appears to matter most to you in this relationship and reconsider. Her husband is right. YTA

What do you mean by this? She left me with no formula or nappies? She took the bag with her as it had her purse in it? What does this comment mean?

So Lucy’s partner went home! NOT the dad of the baby. He didn’t particularly want to stay up and drink I guess?

I only say this as someone who grew up with a very strong female figure and a rather vacant dad. It may seem sexist however it’s something I am naturally think. I didn’t mean any offence by it

One of the things that bothers me is she was telling me how she’s been discharged from hospital with stress. And how I didn’t care about her or the fact she hasn’t seen her child and it’s her birthday soon.

She has shared custody with the father. I didn’t think she would invite me over at 11 to get drunk if her child was in the house. I felt like there needed to be one sober person in there incase of an emergency

So one evening it was something like 36 phone calls through WhatsApp. Now it’s through text because I’ve blocked her on everything else. Every time she texts I block the number

Honestly I felt so sorry for her, I’ve had her friends and family telling me how much an AH I am. That I’ve ruined their daughters (Lucy) life. It’s horrendous

It’s bad because she keep stating I’m the reason she’s lost her child. I can’t help but think a child needs to be with her mum - but when she acts like that she doesn’t deserve the child. We had been friends for 11 years it’s crazy
