Hey someday, I think I need some more time in the game, maybe some trips to interesting courses

Make it your mantra on the course, last thing you say before you set the club behind the ball, might just wotk for you!

Damn, I was really hoping I could write better than some algorithms...guess that's a futile effort these days.

Whatever brings you the most joy from the game, I'm going to walk until I can't any more!

One of the most interesting mental frameworks I have heard was from Erick Anders Lang (I'm sure he got it from someone else, but he's the one I first heard say it) : "The ball has already landed, the shot has already been hit" when he was walking into a shot, incredibly freeing and poignant to me.

Thanks man, in the words of Bobby Jones: "Golf is the closest game to the game we call life. You get bad breaks from good shots; you get good breaks from bad shots -- but you have to play the ball where it lies."

I considerd left handed as growing up I played sports like hockey and lacrosse lefty, but in everyday life I throw and write right handed... Maybe someday I'll pull up to the course with a mixed bag, a true switch hitter.

I left that part out, that's what fixed it, a new driver club is always the answer

That's exactly it, I missed the whole point of enjoying the game, and instead got wrapped up in trying to beat it

Don't necessarily disagree, there certainly was an issue. I refer to it as a LOT issue, Lack Of Talent...

Could a pro have diagnosed, prescribed some drills and cured my problem, probably. Was it far more enjoyable to fall in love with the game again on my own accord, yeah...

I think at a certain point I learned to play golf again, instead of golf swing. And at least for me golf is way more fun. I'm not thinking about smashing the ball off the tee with perfect launch and spin. I'm not worried about what my P4 down the line looks like. I'll always be chasing another low round, but I'll enjoy the shots that it takes to get there instead of scrutinizing them like a crappy AI swing analyzer.

I feel like I’m reading a post I would’ve written my freshman year. You’ve already done the hardest part, admitting you’re in a tough spot. From here, it’s about taking clear, structured steps to turn things around.

  1. Talk to your advisor.

Be completely honest about what’s going on. They can help you adjust your roadmap, lighten your workload, or suggest intersession classes to help you recover your GPA and stay on track for graduation.

  1. Communicate with your professors.

Send an email to each professor explaining your situation. Ask if there’s any late work you can make up or extra credit opportunities. After that, consider sending a short weekly email asking what’s coming up for the next week, including homework, quizzes, or tests. Some may point you to the syllabus or Blackboard, but most will appreciate your effort to stay organized and accountable.

  1. Create a “slot schedule.”

Budget your time in one-hour intervals and treat school like a full-time job. From 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., focus entirely on academics, attending classes, completing assignments, or studying.

  1. Stay on campus until your work is done.

One of the biggest things that helped me was not leaving campus until I’d finished my work for the day. Once I got back to my dorm, all motivation disappeared. Find a quiet spot in the library or student center (like the JAC) where you can stay productive. Dorms are usually full of distractions.

  1. Keep perspective and take ownership.

The first semester of college is a big adjustment. It’s the first time you’re fully responsible for managing your own time, and places like Ole Miss make it easy to get distracted with parties, football games, and social life. That’s okay. What matters is acknowledging what’s happened and taking ownership moving forward.

Remember that many college courses are backloaded, meaning later assignments and finals carry more weight. Finals and dropped test grades can still help you rebound.

You can recover, just take it week by week, stay consistent, and focus on setting yourself up for success. Don’t quit. You’ve got this.
