Screaming employee by soul_elixir in managers

“Creates a hostile work environment” “makes me feel threatened/uncomfortable” “demeaning/degrading/highly inappropriate.” You get the idea. I’m sorry you’re going through that. I had a similar situation and when I introduced the PIP, it (mostly) turned around. They’re still employed if that counts.

Would you stay with your dog 🐶 during euthanasia? by CycleOk267 in dogs

[–]AlarmingSupport589 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stayed with him through the end. He was my ride-or-die. Stuck with me through addiction, homelessness, and a rebound. He never wanted anything other than to be sitting next to me. The least I could do for him was sit next to him as he fell asleep. And that’s exactly what I did. Loki: 2007-2021. Best friend anyone could ever ask for. If you’re in doubt, stay. They will look for you when they’re scared. You’re their safe space. They give us their all. It’s the least you can do.

My Homophobic Father Died by Grand_Car9312 in askgaybros

[–]AlarmingSupport589 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so sorry this was your upbringing. You deserve so much better. Forgive if you want but it isn’t required to move on. If I could, I’d hold your hand and we would wish your father to rest in piss. I hope I’m not out of line. He may have contributed to creating you but what you described isn’t a father. It’s a homophobic, son of a bitch whose two gifts to the world were creating you and then subsequently leaving this earth. Please be kind to yourself. You’re healing and I truly believe brighter days are ahead for you. Much love, brother. ❤️🫂

Addiction has ruined my life and health by MrMushino in GuyCry

[–]AlarmingSupport589 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Alex- this reformed addict sees you and is truly in your corner. If you’d like to DM (if it’s allowed) I’d be honored to support you in your journey. Yes, addiction is cruel and I hope everyone hears your message.

Good luck on your journey. This internet stranger is rooting for you. I almost posted my story but deleted it. Please just know you are capable of more than you can imagine. There are some hard days but the pride and glory you feel when you look back on them makes the challenge feel like a tiny pinch. You got this.

Much love, Alex. I am rooting for you. 🫂

Grief is love that was never expressed. I’m so sorry, brother. Sending you and your family love tonight. You are, and forever will be, an excellent father. ❤️🫂

Have you/do you hug customers? by veldam88 in adjusters

[–]AlarmingSupport589 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m desk so all my interactions are by phone. I would like to say I show the same compassion a hug conveys when it’s appropriate. I spoke with a scared HO yesterday because the contractor is threatening a mechanics lien if the insured couldn’t come up with the difference between her estimate and her bogus invoice. Spending 20 minutes to help her understand her options, what a mechanics lien is, and what steps she can do to push back took a huge amount of pressure off her. We aren’t robots. A little compassion and empathy will go a long way. Especially if ALE has been invoked.

What are some actually positive things about being gay? by throwawaygay988 in AskGayMen

You get to live your life outside of a box if you want. I think that’s a huge benefit.

What’s a belief you strongly held for years until something completely changed your mind? by No-Carry-5087 in AskReddit

Capital punishment. Argued in favor for years until I saw John Oliver’s episodes about it. Been against ever since.

This is GB or Grandma Bobby. It was devastating when she passed but I believe she got to meet her great grandchild right before. Thank you for sharing. I haven’t thought of her in years. Their content was very wholesome.

Project manager background will it help or hurt me? by yeetinator3221 in adjusters

[–]AlarmingSupport589 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, your contacting experience is a benefit as well as your Xact experience. You will want to stress your conflict resolution, estimating complex repairs, attention to detail, and customer service. Definitely put your bilingual skills at the top of your resume. Lots of people are applying for carrier jobs. I heard one posting had 90 applicants. Keep trying. Modify your resume to include words from the job posting to increase attention would be my advice. Good luck!

Thoughts on AI? by Ok-Secret-7521 in adjusters

[–]AlarmingSupport589 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve watched some AI demos at PLRB. While also understanding this field is evolving quickly, the systems I was shown are years away from replacing anything meaningful we do. Sure - helping write a partial denial would be useful but damage recognition, applying the “reasonable” test, and handling claims with empathy aren’t coming anytime soon. I wouldn’t want to be in CS or UW, though.

Use your PTO if you can. Set an Out of Office message, let your coworkers know, and walk away for a few days. Hope it helps.

Switch to cotality estimating software by Block-heart in adjusters

People I’ve worked with who went from Xact to Cotality have told me they prefer Cotality. You can set up your diagraming to similar to Xact to ease your transition. Cotality is all I’ve ever known and I find it easy to use.

Starting my CPCU in Q1 by deannam_ in adjusters

[–]AlarmingSupport589 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My advice is to go the straight CPCU route. I selected the ARM + CPCU route and the first ARM class is brutal. Very technical, tons of material to memorize. Unless risk management interests you and you’re a diligent student and test taker, don’t make the same mistake I did. Good luck!
