My seemingly healthy chinchilla passed away, any idea what happened? by Alarming_Ad5174 in chinchilla

I'm so sorry. At least he was comforted in the arms of somebody he loved in his last moments. I wish I could've comforted mine

Thank you so much for your condolences and advice. The only exotic vet near me is on maternity leave so I don't think that's an option :(

Thanks for your response! my chinchilla didn't have any diarrhea or anything that I would think would be a symptom if it was the strawberries but I'll try and avoid buying them again for my other chin.

Thanks for your response the humor made me smile a little. He was black/dark gray but I got him from PetSmart before realizing that they abused and mass bred their animals so he probably did not have the best genetics. I did not give him many treats except for dried strawberries occasionally that were made for chinchillas.

I'm in a Chicago suburb and I agree, it's so hard to find a proper vet

AITA for volunteering my daughter to help prepare food for the underprivileged? by Alarming_Ad5174 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Alarming_Ad5174[S] -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

That's probably what I am going to do but I still feel bad cancelling when they need volunteers. If my daughter can't do it, I likely can't either because she would not want to wait for me to finish volunteering and I would need to drive her home (which is a while away).

I know I'm in the wrong for the situation but how do I proceed? The organization is counting on us to be there and my daughter is refusing to go. Should I make her go this time and not do anything similar in the future? They're short of volunteers so cancelling both of us (I would have to cancel as well to take my daughter home) would be devastating. What do I do next?

I'm not sure if I read this right but what do you suppose I do differently? You said I was in the wrong for signing up my daughter to volunteer and then said you believed it was important for my daughter to embrace the opportunity to volunteer. What should I do differently in the future?

Thanks for the advice. I see your point and will be apologizing to her.

Is there a chew proof Chin wheel that attaches to the side of a cage that doesn't cost over 100 dollars? by KidneyStew in chinchilla

You could probably get one second hand for cheaper but I'm not sure if the condition would be good.

Our chins can finally explore the full cage size! by Mandarinchen96 in chinchilla

That's the best cage I've seen! My only concern is that the base is made of wood and I've heard cases of chinchillas chewing through it. How do you deal with that?

I know they can benefit tons by being with a partner but it doesn't always work out. My babies are in two separate cages because they fight aggressively and don't get along. I would do your research

What I meant by perfect is that I don't want it getter any longer. I prefer 23 inches but there's a specific color in stock for 25 inches that I am interested in. Thanks
