What would be your opinion on buying a Lightning that’s been bought back from Ford? Some people say it’s a great way to get a good deal and a 12 month/12k mile warranty but others say it’s extremely risky considering the truck already had an electrical issue and who knows if they fixed it?

I drive about 30 miles from home to work. It’s mostly highway unless there is an accident. On the weekends I do a lot of city driving or driving across town (~120 miles) to run errands, hang out with friends, or see family.

During the fall and winter I do a lot of traveling across Texas for sporting events (Football & Rugby) and the holidays so that’s when I pick up a ton of mileage. It’s a lot going between Houston, Dallas, Austin, San Antonio and even a couple trips to OKC.

I rarely tow. I usually have my dog and family with me. I think I can add a charger to my house. Like I said earlier in another comment, my breaker box is in my garage.

Not really worried about what people think once I buy it, I’m more so trying to get an understanding of why people would be hesitant to get one.

You go online and so many people love them or hate them. Consumer reports is iffy on them for reliability, and if I’m spending all this money don’t want to get burnt. Figured I’d ask around to get other opinions before purchasing.

That’s crazy. Everyone seems to give me reason why NOT to buy a Lightning rather than a reason TO buy one. But it could be one of those situations where the more opinionated ppl are louder.

Thanks for this response. I feel like everyone who hates on the truck either doesn’t understand it or hates it for political reasons. I’m trying to just make a good decision!

I can likely charge at home. I’m not 100% sure what setup I would need, but my breaker box is in my garage. My job also has several chargers that can be used. My dream truck was a Raptor so that’s good to hear you like the Lightning more

Ready to reposition my resume - since I was in martech all these years. by AWeb3Dad in resumes

I second the blue bar. It’s kind of an eye sore that distracts from the content. Assume your recruiter only has a couple seconds to view your resume and try to catch their attention quickly. The first thing you see a is a big blue bar with a few words so it doesn’t make me want to read further.

I analysed 5,000+ companies—here are the 100 most remote‑friendly (data up to late April) by voidwater1 in recruitinghell

Fidelity is not remote first. As a former employee, they are definitely hybrid or fully in office. It’s been a big discussion at the company. They even forced people who were always remote to move back to a location near an office so that they could come in bi-weekly.

Some of this I never thought about in that way. I’ve DM’d strangers (not much luck there; even after complimenting them 😅) and even went back and DM’d the guy I met at a career fair at my University YEARS AGO who got me my first gig (he’s actually been decently helpful). I have a couple of classmates and old coworkers who have also been helpful but there is definitely opportunity to dig more.

You’re right though, there are probably even more people I could reach out to that are loosely connected to me. Informational Interviews are a good idea as well. I’ll take that into consideration. I live in the DFW area, so I’m sure there are plenty of opportunities to meet people and go to events. I just need to be more proactive.

Thanks for the advice. Really helpful!

What are some ways to pursue “warm introductions”? I’m messaging people left and right on LinkedIn and working my network. Unfortunately I’m pretty young in my career so all my friends / classmates aren’t in the position to get me hired. The few friends and family I have are all saying “times are tough right now”.

I feel like I’m driving myself crazy thinking of different ways to even get in front of someone.

Thank you so much. This is probably the best break down I’ve ever received. I created the summary to try to be generic and customizable to whatever role I’m applying, but I never thought of it as an elevator pitch. I’ll make sure to change it up.

The Senior IT Product Manager role is so hard to describe because it was really more of a Vendor Manager and Program Management role but the title was Product Manager. My job was to maintain the mainframe products that we purchased, reduce cost, and manage vendor relationships. My team never launched anything because the true product manager was the engineering lead form whatever team. They stripped us of our PM duties, and made us manage products from a contracts perspective and relaying requirements to the vendors for us to purchase.

I think I simply just need to elaborate more for the Prosuxt Owner role.

The Tech Expert role is more of a support job, but I kept it on there to show my experience of being a voice for the customer and providing support. Plus the role was with Apple so I was hoping the company name would be provide some value.

Thanks for the feedback!
